almost done with my mastercylinder brake caliper fiasco so im thinking ahead to my next project 15x10 mickeythompson classicII wheels on 32x11.5x15 tires poss. yokohama geolander a/t or bridgestone dueler revo a/t ! i would like to go 33x12.5x15 but dont have the gears 4 that set up , oh and also i hope to acheive the clearence 4 the 32"s with 2" shackles and rearching rear springs , money is kind of tight so the 2.5 bds lift will have to wait ... :D
anybody out there running this set up or a set up similar to this i would love to hear from you or anyboby that wants two add ther 2 cents.- thx guys !

I am in the same boat as you, I wanted big tires but no cash for the lift yet, So I went with the 33x9.5's I HATED THEM AS SOON AS I TOOL THEM OUT OF THE SHIPPING BOX! they looked Awful! and I had nothing to do about it beccause I needed new tires before the rain starts here,

So I got em mounted and I love them the width isnt very noticable and you can still save for the lift and not need new rims, you can see pics of my setup in the biggest tire thread.

My suggestion is to save and do the lift right. There's a reason you don't see people running around with shackle lifts only.

Don't get so anxious to 'mod' that you do stuff cheaply. Do it right, or do it twice.

As far as gearing goes, 33" or 32" will make almost no noticeable difference. You might as well get some narrow 33's and drive like that until you can afford some new third members and a lift.

PO had 10.00x15 Enkei modular alloys on my 84 FJ60 - I replaced the worn-out 12.50x33s with 10.50x33 MTRs. They're great! Now if I could just afford to replace the wheels with current chrome-plated steelies, I'd reallly have something!

I run a re arch/add a leaf with slightly longer (1 inch I think) shackles. Run 32X11.50 MTRs with no issues; do not rub at full flex/turned wheel.. 33X12.5 would rub; I tried it. 33X9.50 work; they are a good riding tire though limited experience with them off road. 32X11.5 are a good tire on and off road; do not bully your suspension or axle components but competent off road. I am about to add slightly longer (1.5 or 2 inch) shackles to the rear to have the rear slightly higher; a look I like; but my current set up works. This set up is good for a moderately built truck in the most humble of all opinions: mine. I am lucky enough to have a local blacksmith/spring specialist who heat treated my springs after re arching (important for longevity) and made me custom full length second leaves (also to retain re arch.) , not short leaves. He also made me bolt style spring clips to allow for more interleaf separation. About the best re arch you can get. Price: 300 per axle. That may seem high, but this is out the door in one day and intstalled. And done exactly like I asked: shackle angle slightly off from vertical and no lean. Even some of the commercial lifts have fitment and other problems, just search this board.
