13B-T Toyota replacement pistons

What are the differences in the 13B-T Toyota replacement pistons 1985-88 and 88-90?

They both have the same Toyota stock number 13101-58030?

Are they the same pistons or different?

Plus does the mark 01, 02, 03 and 04 stand for some type of oversizing?

Thanks

Same part number means same part. Not sure what the change was in 02/88. In 08/88 they changed the main bearing size, but that would not affect the piston.

-01, -02, -03 are tiny size differences (not oversizes as such) which are stamped somewhere on the engine. Get a factory service manual for guidance, it should also tell you the precise diameter of each variant. If you are honing or reboring the engine, they are irrelevant and your machine shop should chose the pistons to suit.

I'm pretty sure all 13B pistons are out of production, so you'll be looking to the aftermarket anyhow.

In 1988 the main bearings were changed from a round oil hole to a slotted oil hole. In the service manual bearings with mark 1 & 2 spec's are mentioned but not the piston spec's. Pistons with the Mark 1 & 2 are stamped into the block deck for each piston.

Just checked the catalogue - you are correct. They are the same size, just the oil hole shape changed. Thanks for the learning point. I think I was getting mixed up with the camshaft bearings, which got bigger in 08/88.

Found a place here in the USA that had a full set of Toyota NOS 13B-T Pistons 13101-58030-02. $$$$ but well worth it.

Nice score. Looks like they were made in 2013. I'm sitting on a full set of long-dead +0.50 genuine 14B-T pistons from 2013 which I found NOS.
