hello all, i am rebuilding a 13b diesel out of a daihatsu delta truck. i was wondering if anyone had any pictures or comments on how the injector pump works...ie. fuel shutoff and throttle etc.

its an inline injector pump and its got a butterfly valve in the intake joined to the injector pump.

i have heard that some models have a heating screen in the intake............ mine doesn't. will i have any problems starting the engine??

it also seems that alot of the engine is vacume controlled. i was wondering if anyone knew what these little pipes do running from the alternator to the injector pump etc.

i was told that the engine has this system so that the engine builds up oil pressure before it allows fuel to enter the cylinders??

can i s**** this system and make up some kind of lever system to join to the factory edic motor. or a choke cable shutoff??

i have from now until the end of the year to get the beast running and i wouldnt mind some help as i am only familliar with the 3b out of the 1984 bj42.

thank you very much.. jimmy

I thought the 13B used the same glow plugs as the 11B

In theory I dont see why not. The Dyna BU60/63/75 had non edic set up.
You would need a relay for the glow plugs and a cable for the on off position on the pump.
Easiest way might to find the non edic system at a wreckers and fit it to yours.
One thing to remember is the oil pressure switch is connected to the edic so you would have to find a way round that.

Are you in Australia/NZ ? I think Gregorys sell a Dyna/Delta manual.
There was a B engine manual on the net but they have disappeared

yeah it never had an edic ( the motor that is) i have just kept the edic from the previous motor that the car had and it just bolts straight on the side where it usually goes on a 3b.

if i have nothing joined to the injector pump will it start or will i need something to hold the fuel shutoff off... my problem is that i dont have any clue what position the leavers are in at the moment.. i would presume that the return spring would hold the throttle at idle but i dont know about the shutoff..

also just quickly there is a fuel overflow pipe that branches off from the injectors and then back to the injector pump. but then from that joint at the injector pump it has a outlet going to no where, can i just get a "T" shaped fuel joint and put that pipe back into the fuel line or should i direct it back to the tank?.......... or even block it off. cheers

oh i am in QLD australia....

cheers mate
