I was following home a great looking silver 80 and when I passed it, it was a 100? :o

Was this just an older (98 -99) 100, and is there more than just 1 stlye of 100 one that looks more like an 80 from the rear?

I think all 100s look a lot like the 80 from the rear. You may be mistaking some 4Runners or Sequioas for the 100 LC.

I photoshopped my LX for fun in March of last year just to see what it would look like. Pretty interesting:

That was funny, real funny.... NOT!

I found a 99 LC today and I think what I saw was a 100 with the chrome off the plate area.

It dffently had the correct tail lens, also it didn't have a roof rack, maybe this appeared that tail area was more triangle in shape like a 80. The rear bumper was also body coloured plastic.

Anyway back to the orgininal question, are all of the 1998 -2005 LC the same? I know that some of the later lx470 look like the new gx470's, but the other lx470 look like LC's from the same year.

You must be seeing something I don't. To me, all 98-05 LC and LX look the same - well, they basically are the same (except difference in headlights), with the biggest difference being the 18" wheels on the newer ones. I don't think the GX and the LX (or the LC) look even REMOTELY the same...

`98-`05 are the same body. Just some slight front fascia differences after `03, but nothing that most people would notice, and nothing that applies to what you saw.

There are some 100s that have fender flares installed as (I believe) a dealer option, and with those, the truck looks a lot more like an 80. Not sure if this is what you saw.

BTW, I used to hate the look of the 100 when it first came out. But it grew on me, and now I own one!. They are still better looking than any other SUV out there, but the 80 is even still slightly better looking, IMHO.

There are quite a few differences in the bodies of the LX and LC. The new LX has reverse lights next to the license plate. The indent for the plate are is also a different shape than that of the LC. The tailights on the tailgate are also not the same shape and so if the little vent thing on the side.

As for the tab's photo shop. Pretty good. In Japan you can actually buy covers to achieve exactly what you did. You still have the seem. Amazing how the chop makes it look like a 80 from behind.

I dont know if they are available in your country but the standard LC100 in Australia has 70/30 barn doors instead of tail gate and slimer taillight assembly like that on the 80 series.

I agree it's pretty wild.

Ahem, I expect to see a new thread today on the information you updated in your sig Christo :flipoff2:

As dclee said, some 100's had dealer installed fender flares and body molding that makes them look more like an 80 series. I know Gulf States Toyota (where many dealers in the south get their inventory) had some installed at port.

Now I think someone sees my confusion = possible fender flares on a 100 and the recessed licenses area!

The 80/100 was a bit wider at the bottom, much more so than my 80.

I remember easily shooting apexes through Santa Barbara and the poor guy in front was as wide as 3/4 of a lane.

Anyway it was nonstandard and I want one.

i'm surprised at the two pictures and how differenty they look just by taking away the lights. i def. had it mistaken for a 4runner for a sec. !
