Hi all,

My dad has an 08 Tundra Crewmax, all stock. It has the 18" wheels and with only 20K on it, the tires are already looking pretty worn. Granted they are the BFG Rugged Trail tires we got from the dealer, but still, only 20K.

Anyways, my dad wants to know what larger size tires he can put on their without a lift. I told him he may need spacers, but he wants it to fit in the garage, so he doesn't really want it lifted. Yes, it fits in our garage with about 2 inches of room in the front and back and people other than the driver must exit before we pull in, but it fits.

Any recommendations? We aren't looking for the biggest size, just something larger and without any mods on the truck.

Thanks

Every 2nd gen Tundra I've seen eats the first set of tires. Mine were toast when I turned it in at the end of the lease. I can't help you with the other question. There are a couple of other forums that would have that info. In fact I searched there when I was getting bigger tires on my 1st gen.

The tundra isn't mine, so I don't normally give it too much thought unless I need to haul or carry a lot of stuff. I was just looking at the tires and I noticed that they are passenger tires! Why would they put passenger tires on a truck especially when you get the TRD package? I don't get it.

When I mentioned this to my dad, he is the one that suggested larger tires. I've tried looking at a couple forums, no luck yet by just searching, can you point me in any direction?

I gots another question that I forgot to put in my OP. The reason I was looking at the tundra's tires is because my friends and I are going on an extended, partially primitive camping trip. I can't fit all the water we will need in my cruiser, so that's why I was gonna take the tundra. I was hoping I could get some light wheeling in the trip since we are doing a tour of southern utah. Are there any trails in Moab that a stock tundra can handle?
