Both removed from running 60s during engine conversions. Worked when removed. 1 needs a shim washer added to the clutch. Original denso $40 each?

I suspect these two bolts may be the source of small annoying oil leak. Can someone tell me the purpose of these two bolts and if there is some type of O ring or sealant needed here? The blue oval are the two bolts.

I bought a H42 split case combo recently and didn't realize the earlier ones used a cover where the shifter is further forward. From my understanding the cover is interchangeable so before I relist the trans does anyone have a later H42 top cover like the one pictured? I will be doing a SBC swap.
