2002 LX470 CV Axel replaced and vibration started.

Hello everyone, I took my 2002 LX470 to the shop last week to replace the CV axles as they were worn-out. After replacing with TRAKMOTIVE from Rockauto.com, a strong vibration started. The shop mounted NAPA ones, same thing, rebuild and balanced the front shaft, still there. Removed the...

    CV Boot Recommendations

I have a lifted 07 limited sequoia and need to replace my inner cv boots. I was going to go with a high angle cv boot but wanted to see if anyone could reccommend a brand or is it best to stick with oem? Thx.

    Better CV boots out there?

Hello all, Opening this up to the forum. I have another torn CV boot. Second one this year. Do I need to keep these on hand after each trip out to the mountains? Curious if there is a better, stronger boot out there that might last a little bit longer after being hit by rocks on shelf...

Loose CV at differential (potential bad bearing?)

Hi all, First post from a new member. New to me 2006 GX470 cv axle has a loose connection at the input to the front differential. I had thought this would be an opportunity to upgrade to a bushing but a bit a question to ECGS revealed to me that these rigs do not use the pesky needle...

New CV, diff drop, or more?

Hey I noticed when parking at full lock, at a weird angle on a hill today that my Tire looked super weird, off camber a lot etc. Anyway I looked inside and saw the CV looked like it was popping out, and there's also a leak or something. Planning to replace the CV probably, but wondering if I...

Noise on front right when steering right

Need some advice, idea's, inputs. Only month ago, my car has 2 new cv's installed and new wheel bearings. Every time I steer to the right, it makes that clicking noise on the front right. Just came back from the CV specialist and he test drove my car. He said it sound like cv joint, but it...

All-Pro Offroad CV Boots Install Question(s)

Today I took my reman axles and rebooted them due to my lift. I've done both the inner and outer sides and now I'm concerned I did not do the outer correctly. I placed the outer boot in the exact same spot as the original, but the wide opening section that goes over the outer joint casing is...

    Reman CV Axle questions

First, I read through a bunch of older threads, but still had some questions. I picked up a 05, 470 with 200k miles. All four boots are ripped. The inner boot passenger side is basically completely separated and has no grease left in it. In choosing not to reboot, but instead install need CV...

Any way to emergency repair cv boot?

It looks like I tore my passenger upper cv boot yesterday. It flung out a bunch of grease. It’s torn at the small end first bellow. I’m tempted to clean it as best I can and wrap gorilla tape around it to try to keep grease in. It is driving fine with no clicking/issues. Any other ideas? Salida...

Leaking Front CV boots, also new axle?

We have 84k miles on our 2006 LC. The dealer says the front CV boots are leaking (I can see grease all over the axles), axle looks good. Local shop says axles are so cheap now, that we should also replace them too (since there MAY be damage). We don't do any off-road driving, if that matters.

    Recommended aftermarket front axles

Hey all, well the time has come to replace my front CVs, shortly after the install of the Dobbinson lift both boots ripped. I will say I’m not totally contributing it to the lift as they look relatively worn, but it certainly is suspicious. For reference I installed the 2.5 with control arms...

Hi y'all, Figured I'd share some lessons learned on disconnecting the CV axle "the easy way" and re-visit some previously discussed CV stuff. I was leaking gear oil out of the passenger side diff, so I went in to replace the diff seal. I followed the advice of "chowcares" on YouTube in the...

    Time for a new CV?

Hey Mud, I finally had some time today to get under the truck and think I have pinpointed my "clunk" caused by going over small bumps and cracks. After poking and prodding around I discovered that there is a substantial amount of "in and out" lateral movement where my passenger side axle meets...
