Looking for some input on regearing my 84 FJ60. I'm running 33-10.5s with the stock 3.73 and was wondering if you guys had any real world experience with similar set ups running 4.11s or 4.56s? My big goal here is best fuel economy, this rig sees mostly trips around town and light wheeling/ camping. Thanks.

I run the same tire size with a 5 speed and just re-geared to 4.11's. My rig is an expedition rig that sees a lot of highway miles to get off road so I wanted to regain some power. The test hill (1.5 mile, 6% grade) I used to compare isn't scientific but with stock tires and 3.73's it went up at 65mph in 4th gear, 33x10.50 with 3.73's and a 5 speed I had to gear back and forth between 3rd and 4th up the hill. With 4.11's, 33x10.50 and 5 speed I can maintain 65mph in 4th with a little bit of pedal to slowly accelearte if needed. I can maintain 5th gear over rolling hills with a head of steam.
I'm still working through a few tanks of gas to see how fuel economy is affected. I did get my speedo closer to stock, 65mph = 68mph actual.

I'm running 4.11 in mine with 33s. It's excellent all around gearing, especially paired with a 5 speed. My FJ40 has 4.56 and 35s-again all around good gearing.

Ditto everyone else: 33x10.5x15's + 4.11 gears = normal drivability, perhaps a slight UNDERDRIVE: speedo says 65, you're going 62 or something like that. On paper it's supposed to have a very slight OVERDRIVE, but oh well...

i'm thrilled with my 4.11s and 33's. i ran 4.56 to moab one year and while it was nice off road, highway sucked chunks!

Same here....

I love the 4.11/33's/H55F combo...perfect for DD/wheeler...

So...if you're going to do that....you may as put a rear locker in at the same time..;)

with 33s a 4.11 gearing is a good Highway gears and suitable for light offroading??
