This is my first ever oil analysis- w/ orig oil from PO. I also wheeled Pismo, Las Chicas, Rowher and driving around town on this oil. I guessed at weight and 5000miles, tho it could easily be older oil

I figured I might as well do it to see if there are any problems in the oil. The moisture they account for as normal makes sense (the oil was sitting in a container outside for awhile)

Looks like there was a relatively weak additive package, but that obviously did not cause a problem in this 5,000 mile run in a 1FZFE. This is a super analysis!

I wonder if it was a 10W or 15W-40 Supertech oil? 97ppm moly narrows things down a bit...eliminates quite a few oils from contention. I have seen Supertech in the 70-80ppm range.

edit: Citgo makes a 15W-40 with 90-100 ppm moly, but I believe the add pack is quite a bit more stout than this oil.

How long did it take to get the results ?

It's quick. If you overnight it to them they will try to e-mail you by the end of business on the day it was received. If you send it reg mail they will try for within 2 days from when they receive it. For $20 bucks it's a steal. I sent a sample from my 70 in and got the results the next day.

I got the free sample container and they just emailed me the results... around a week total time I think.

It reinforces what I thought, that the massive resivoir of oil in the 80 helps the durability of the engine.

You cut off the top that shows "Make up oil".

I had a good reading too but when everyone read that I was using about .75 quarts of oil per 1K miles, a couple of mudders rained on my parade.

Of course, I had just switched to full synthetic 5w-30 and that is quite common for that oil switch at 190K.

What was your make up quarts for 5K?

there was no make up quarts. I added no additional oil. I really don't know what all the numbers mean (I just cut off my personal info from the top)

I just slow mailed my sample on Monday. I should hear by early next week.

Sorry to be lazy and post a link, but it saves a lot of typing.

You will know what all the numbers mean after a few minutes of reading at the link!

Pretty impressive, I'd say. I think you have basically NO WEAR. Given continued good practice, you should get another 300k miles out of that motor. What oil are you running now?

Sounds good to me, hope it's true!

I don't know what type of oil it is or weight... I'll try to get the info from the PO.

Chev Supreme in it now and I have Delo on tap when it warms up...

I'm going to try and test it again at the next change just to see if the results are the same.
