got bored, had a couple hundred sitting around, saving for a rooftop tent, figured i'd get things rolling on this car and give it a little attention.

found 8 quik-n-easy clamps from 2 different guys on seattle craigslist, 20 for four from one guy 5 for 4 from the other. stripped em down and gave em a quick coat of paint. redipped the ends in plastidip but wanted a little more "buffer" so cut up some strips of vacuum hose and stuck em on. work great. all the metal, including the expanded metal floor was $76. i'm an idiot and sold my welder last year when i was in a pinch, so i went in with a buddy on renting a welder for a day, split between us that was only 15 each. still had my autodark helmet and a bottle so that helped. outside dimensions are 52" by 92", outer perimeter is 1" angle, cross bars are 3/4" square, and welded on some 1 1/2" strips of flat steel on each side going along the length of the expanded metal since the sheet was narrower than the rack. worked great for sticking some ubolts on. some paint and misc. hardware added up to another 40 bucks or so. not to pretty but, cheap and affective. i'll be throwing some sides on it and some 4" clamps next time around, i just ran out of time and was trying to get it up quick for a camping trip. bigger wheels/tires going on tomorrow, holy crap i'm excited :bounce:
