Ok, I started to fab my can holder a while back and just got it to the stage where I could mount it on my 40. I have used the drivers side amb door as my mounting location, and the hinges as my mounting point so it will swing out with the door. However, I have a problem. Obviously with the weight of the can and only mounting it on one side, there is quite a bit of strain on the mount. it also flexes toward and away from the body. I really don't want to drill though the door on the inboard side to support it. Here are options I have thought of.

1) Make a support that comes out from the bumper, that the inboard corner can rest on when the door is closed.
2) Use a Heavy duty magnet to secure the inboard side to the door with no drilling (not to take weight, but stop flex in the hinge mounts)
3) Both 1 & 2 from above.
4) Dont be a wuss and just drill it.
5) scrap the idea of carrying the can there, wait till I build my roof rack and mount it up there. (prefer not to)

The can is lockable onto the mount. The bar in the pic with the can is somewhat "Z" shaped and must be roated in order to be removed. There is a small bracket at the bottom where a padlock goes through both the bar and the base of the mount to prevent it from rotating.

What do you guys think of it, and what should I do to complete it.
Yes, I know, I need to wash my 40.

Thanks.
