Just a thought. This seems easier to use and to access. Garage feature, Facebook link, instant messaging.
Woody has put a lot of features in here with us in mind. And I have yet to get any spam from 'MUD.

Old habits are hard to change. You cant teach an old dog new tricks. Change is bad.

Any of these make sound familiar?

I am used to both and each has its merits. We have Ozark Mountain Cruisers on mud and it works great as you say. Easy to go back and find old threads. Easy to tie in links to other topics. Easier to keep topics straight.

On the other had the yahoo groups that GCC uses has one big advantage in that it gets the threads out to members faster. Very few folks can keep mud up and running at work but they do have email going there. Its also very easy to use Yahoo with a phone so that you dont have to be tied to a computer to use it.

When I was at the jamboree last month we were off of the club page the entire time but I was able to post up pics top GCC while on the trip.

I believe the Mud is a better overall club tool but Yahoo groups is a better mobile club tool.

Also, if you want more responses to your question you might want to post this on the GCC yahoo thread as there is only a couple of us that use this forum. Woody just puts them out there for all tlca clubs.

no one uses it cause no one uses it. This is the first time I've popped in in forever, cause there is never anything her to look at!

One big disadvantage to the mailing list - SPAM - and VIRUS's. We've had issues with both on the mailing list.

I think this is a more likely place for people to find GCC though. If you go to TLCA.org, look at the chapter listings, it lists okoffroad.com as the web site. Which if you just click the link, there is nothing showing anything to do with GCC. greencountrycruisers.com should just be taken down. The schedule of events has the event schedule for 2007. If you look at TLCA Wiki , you link to www.greencountrycruisers.com

The only way you'll ever get people to start using the forum at all though is it shut down the mailing list. I can't say I believe that to be a bad thing. I always fill a little bad about just sending out rambling stuff via email, or a bunch of photos, but posting them here would be easy.

If you google Green Country Cruisers - first hit - www.greencountrycruisers.com, which woul lead anyone to reasonably beleive that the club no longer exists. The next is this forum, then Green Country Cruisers - TLCWiki, which gets you back to greencountrycruisers.com

So, if I'm a new cruiser or toy owner, and I live in Oklahoma and I'm loking for this club, I either find a site that hasn't been updated in 3 years, or a forum that no one ever uses. Doesn't make us the easiest to find. Just say'n

oh ya', I forgot, I was also able to easily see who around us had events going on with a little searching on mud, but if I didn't know GCC does a picnic every october already, it would be hard for someone out of the know to find out about it.

Once you post to a thread and you have Mud set up to e-mail you when there is a post you can post from your phone.

I think it is easier to use Mudd. Plus there is a tie in with the Avatar. I just joined GGC and I don't remember all the names but i remember the Rig.

I really enjoy the mud forum but I have never even thought about using the GCC's club section. I will subscribe to this thread that way I can get an e-mail and reminder to check who and what has been posted. I agree with Thad that the yahoo group is easier for mobile use and getting an e-mail is faster then logging into mud.

You are also correct, Heath, that when searching GCC one might think our club is non-active. I think Mark is still over the GCC website. He has stated many times that if anyone gives him a vehicle write up or an article he will post to our page.

If this is your posting of chose then I say great. I have Subscribed and will do my best to keep up with both, mud and yahoo.

Kurits

We can also set up a private GCC BOD section on here for club business like elections and dues.

Last but not least, the best way to move over to mud is to just start using it as Heath has demonstrated. The more activity we have here the more people will show up here.

Who's the moderator for this section? If no one else wants to do it, I'd volunteer - after Dave S's volunteer speach, how could I not? :)

As you know from GATOR, I've become real big on having some introduciton stuff available. Not being the most outgoing person in the world, it helps me if I know a little about people. In that vein, I'd like to do a sticky with everyone doing a short intro, and a shot of themselves and their truck. "Club Members - an Intro'. The website can work that way, and I think Randy's is actually pretty good

GreenCountryCruisers

but some have a little about the truck, and nothing on the person

GreenCountryCruisers
GreenCountryCruisers

by doing it here, people would be responsible for updating their own, so it wouldn't fall on anyone to update the web site - just a thought.

Other sticky I'd like to do is events. Just a list of events and web links on stuff that's going on in the area (like the ones I've been posting, only consolidated) - or that members are going to out of the area - like if someone is going to GSMTR.

Anyway - those are some toughts

I am the moderator because I noticed a few years ago that we had none. Moderators are listed at the bottom on the page. We can have more than one - just need Woody to set it up.

I will take care of having woody set that up.

I contacted woody, he said just need the current mod to request I be added - aparently someone did some bad things once - wait, I've done bad things too, maybe your shouldn't request adding me ;)

I've never been caught doing bad things yet.

I will PM Woody.

What's up fellow GCC'ers!

you can also subscribe to the entire GCC forum and get daily emails of new threads and updates...

I'm just sayin ;)

How do you subscribe to the entire GCC forum?

How do you subscribe to the entire GCC forum?

go to the main forum

OK- Green Country Cruisers

at the top there is "forum tools" - just like thread tools - and you can click subscribe - and get daily or weekly updates

I was not aware of this feature, but since I have super dooper moderator powers now, and am encouraging more use of the forum, I just did it.

I did this earlier when Woody posted. I will see how it works-- seems like a reminder to check the forum after there are posts...

Which I think will work nice for me, cause with the forum being sporatic, I forget to check, posted a note to the mailing list too about this option, maybe that will help incourage use of the forum.

BTW - love the avatar - Lived in Gillette for 3 years and spend ALOT of time around Devil's tower ridding dirt bikes and hunting wild turkeys - still one of my favorite spots.
