was frustrated with not being able to haul lumber, wanted a place to stash gear, and kinda wanted an excuse to run the Millermatic. was originally going to run it over the cab but thought the flexing might pull it apart so I threw a Yakima Q tower and bar to handle anything that ran long. It's 1x1 square by .049 (1/16th approx). Pre-bent corners (a little hokey but fab shops wanted $20 a bend) gusseted the corners with plate and drilled to run a bolt if I want to lay down a plywood deck. Garage door gasket material and silicone caulk under the 6 feet. Ran the top rails a little ragged for tying s*** down. Ground some of my booger welds down but it's mostly ugly beads. Rustoleum 2X primer and gloss black. about $65 and 10 hours. weighs about 60 lbs.

I got up there and stomped around, I'm 215# and I noticed very little deflection.

Did you brace the inside? I'd be worried about doing this as my shell may not be up to the task of the added weight...
