Ive ordered the OEM 16" steeles for my BJ70 . I got a smoking price on some 235/85r16s mud tires . I went with the "E" rated tires since they were 32"and change and 9.something " wide plus my 70 is way heavy with ARB front with a 12K winch, custom rear with dual swingouts , sliders topped with a ARB 3/4 rack on top.
I figured this will cut down on sloppy sidewall movement that I get :steer:from my 33x9.5x15s now. I also hope to cut down on some of the rolling resistance too since I'm pushing all this with the stock 3B and 4:11s
I cant wait to try this out I'll just have to keep checking the tire pressure since they will stand up like a 80year old with a 20yrold penthouse pet and a bottle of Viagra when the tires are at 2psi :D

Ive been running 10 ply for 2 years now and Im happy with them.
At the moment I have B/stone D694 235x85x16 in a 10ply light truck version on ROH steel rims.
IT says they can take 80 psi:eek:

They were one of the best performing tyres achieving 8/10 overall and the best in sand in a major magazine test.

I also have a set of Roadstone 235x85x16 A/T 10ply,much cheaper and a harder ride ,but sitll good.

I am looking into getting 33x9.5x15s for my BJ74. What do you mean by "sloppy sidewall movement"?
What I have happening is there is a lot of sidewall flex from them being so tall without much contact ground surface . When I was running much lighter it wasn't bad but now weighted down I feel them giving when going around curves and turns.

II also hope to cut down on some of the rolling resistance too

how are you going to cut down on the rolling resistance? Those 33x9.5 definitaly suck but you'll feel the rolling mass of those 10 plys. :grinpimp:

try more psi.

about 45# psi is ok for on the road.

Update

I got my new stock steel rims and the tires came in on Friday .
I mounted them today and balanced . All balanced well but one as it took alot more then I wanted . Its the spare till I can try to break the bead and rotate it on the rim to see if I can get it better .

1st thing I have to say bout them is WOW !!! Its like night and day , no more mushy, spongy :steer: steering and swaying .
Handles like a whole different truck. I do still feel the weight of the truck but none of the other weird "after  wiggle"
I will never go back to the 15s

Photos will be coming in the morning
:bounce::clap::bounce:

that's great ...

looking forward to the pics! :hillbilly:

Yup.

I ran 255/85R16s on my BJ42 for a number of years. Was given a set of stock 15" wheels that had been powder coated white. Bought some 33x9.5x15's put the combo on the BJ42. I still don't like the squishy cornering when compared to the 255's...but I'll run them out till done.

come on koff... pics
Setup truck for glamor shots,:bounce: Found camera(dead), found extra batteries for said camera(also dead):bang: found charger for batteries now Im waiting till they are ready to go :hillbilly:

Nice Koffer....

Looks like the rims got there safe and sound.

;)

Yep they made it here on Friday,
Thanks tell gramps that he forgot to put the 3rd row rear seat plastic step retainer screw/clip thinge on the order but thats OK I understand getting old does that to them seniors :hillbilly:
I'll get it on the next order (that will be way too soon ) :whoops:
I think the UPS guy was a little pissed as my 5 tires showed up the same day . The Cruiser:princess: was home and she called me before noon so the old brown dude must have been tired of tripping over everything since he never shows up before 3pm

looks good. I need to order a set of 255-85's. My 7x16's hockey pucks are worn out
