I went tonight and purchased my first 40. It is a 1968 frame and running gear(except for the Chevy 4.3L V6) with a 1963 body.

Its all downhill from here man. Then again you should know that by now.

Congrats! She looks great!

Good one Ben, whats your plan of attack? Congrats. Al

thanks for the compliments/warnings/questions.

My plan of attack will be first of all to get the lights all working. One of the rear blinkers, 1 headlight, and one of the aftermarket flood/fog lights on front doesn't work. I already figured out they are bad bulbs so that will be an easy enough fix.

Next will be to get some kind of top probably just a bikini top and some soft doors or half doors.

It came with a set of soft and hard doors but I think the hard doors are a little to far gone to mess with restoring them so maybe make them into half doors. The soft doors need some work around the plastic windows as the zippers are bad/ripped/pulled apart etc. The PO is looking in his barn for the soft top but I am not holding my breath as the biggest trouble with this truck has been barn mice.

I messed around with it today when I got it home and took the "eye lids" off that I asked about earlier, if anyone wants them shoot me a PM and you pay the shipping.

Pics to follow.

Nice 40, I see you are not far from me. I am in Waynesville. Army, stationed here at Leonard Wood. I have a '78 FJ40. I havn't seen many around here. Congrats on your new 40!

mtj55......I picked the truck up in Stoutland, which if you aren't familiar with the area is about 15 minutes from Waynesville........not sure how far Waynesville is from the Fort though. He maybe we can get together sometime and I can buy you lunch.

KingBee.......The hood was a terrible mess when the PO bought it. The owner had put a really terrible looking HOOD SCOOP on it and and the PO didn't like it. He had the hood scoop taken off and the hood fixed and also while fixing it he had the guy weld the split so that the hood became a single piece........he didn't like the two piece.

If you cannot tell from the pictures the light color step boards are actually 2+ inch solid oak, and the steering wheel is solid wood also.
