The 60 series transmission/split case look right at home in the 40. Currently, it's hanging off the bell housing. Eventually, I'll narrow the 60 trans cross member and utilize it.

I ran the same transmission and transfer combo in my 73 55 without the crossmember and never had any issues.

Looking nice D.

Never caught up with your buddy needing a front 8274??

I went the cheap route on my air rail plugs, brass 1/4" NPT. Will have you a new parts wish list soon.

J

He wanted a bumper for our trip to GSMTR next week. I'll see him next week and ask.

Speaking of trip, I'm almost ready.

This new Toyota radiator, hose kit and clamps should keep things nice and cool

De Smog

View attachment 1066349

The rig was originally equipped with Kalifornia emissions.

I'm not sure what year emissions came around, but this is definitely the oldest smog system I've ever seen on a cruiser.
I will be doing this soon I was wondering what happened with this - thanks for posting that photo. Mine is a CA car as well looking forward to getting all that extra stuff out.

Ditching the emissions sure cleaned up the engine bay.

The following 60 parts now reside there:

Booster
master
proportioning valve
Starter
Distributor
Coil
Ignitor
Side cover

I ordered a new muffler from Toyota. I'm going to have the exhaust shop build a system around it

I also picked up some new plug wires. Unlike all the other OEM yakazi the wires I've seen, they don't have a date code on them
