Been loving my shell for 2 years now, just noticed over the weekend that one of the little screws is missing. Can you post or PM the size please? Also, I'm betting you just buy in bulk, and that someplace like Home Depot/Lowes wouldn't have something that small?

Shoot me a PM with your shipping address. I'll send out a few screws and nuts free of charge. They're M2 screws, but they must be a certain DIN standard given the tolerances of the assembly. You won't find them anywhere local. I buy in bulk and my cost per piece is small. I'm happy to replace a few screws or nuts as a warranty/goodwill measure.

Took a pic before posting and forgot to attach it.

I did watch the videos but may have missed where it addresses the pins you provide in the kit for a blade with no notches

For what it's worth, I installed everything (minus the pins) last night and have been using it all day with no problems, so it may be a non-issue. Just wanted to run it by you

Whoa! That's a new style to me. I think we should call that the "Sword" style.

Id try it as is for a while and see how it does. I have an I style and a few t styles in my inventory of test keys. I've used the I style with and without the pins and the difference is minimal. If you notice any extra wiggle I'd see if the side pins in the key now will come out with pliers. Then you can use the pins as per my video.

Let me know how it goes. Any idea where that key came from? That's an extremely rare style.

Well yay for broadening our horizons! No idea. I bought the truck about a month ago and it came with 2 fobs and a metal key. I can't get the other fob to program, so I'm guessing there was a replacement at some point. This one was solidly lodged in the housing though. Broke the fob and the blade surround came off in 3 pieces. There's zero play with the new fob

How bizarre. That key design seems like it'd be very expensive (relatively) as it'd require a couple cross drilled holes in a new axis for a press fit, plus two pins. They could have just used the stamped "T" shape and gotten more material/strength at (I assume) a much lower parts cost.

A weird ignition and a weird key! What a week! Thanks for sharing.

Bought my truck about a month ago, just used the 2nd key provided for the first time, its shattered like it exploded. Ordered up!

Product Update: The Black color has officially been upgraded.

Old: Cleared Black OR Basic Black
New: Black (listed under Basic for now)

I now offer only 1 Black color and it has a protective varnish intended for handling use. The varnish leaves a very matte finish and is much less glossy than the old Cleared Black. It's very durable and subtle. It costs me a small amount more to have made and that is reflected in the price. Ideally, I will be moving all products to this varnish. The results are generally better than what I can achieve applying anything myself.

The Basic Battle Ship Grey is now the cheapest material - for now. It may switch over to the same varnished treatment.

Thanks! It'll likely ship out tomorrow. Watch out for a tracking email from Paypal once I get the label printed out.

just an update...still loving my key (bough over a year ago when they first came out) and still looking great (granted I don't drive that much...3k in the past year or so). ignore my 4runner key on the left.

Hi YotaMD,
I got my red key today, and it is beautiful. I am impressed with the craftsmanship and presentation, and well as the function. This is car guy jewelry of a sort. I figure that not only will the red key be easier to find in the dirt, but it will be easier to sot on a parking valet's rack of keys.
Thanks for a great little product.
Good luck,
Dave

Any holiday discounts coming up? ;)

I just asked my wife and she got very excited about a Black Friday sale on Black kits. We'll see how that plays out, haha. No guarantees, but if I'm not slammed busy around that time I'll try to work something up.

Got my key the end of last week. Assembly took like 2 minutes. The fab is great, and the gray feels nice! I like the slight texture to it. Just my luck, the battery on the key died this morning! :meh:

Good thing the assembly is so stinking easy! Good stuff.

Hi,

I will appreciate anyone that can help. I've watched the videos and searched the forum. I may have missed something pertaining to my issue but, my (original?) key blade does not have a threaded hole in the top. It's the regular style as opposed to the i-style (also pictured. Any idea if this style can work with the kit?

I've already torn my old key apart and was installing when I found out this strange detail.

YotaMD may have other ideas, but I would probably have the blank with the threaded hole cut from your original key, and use it. I think the threaded hole is needed to anchor the shaft into the metal structure of the titanium key shell.
Good luck,
Dave

The threaded hole is helpful, but not required. The one without the hole is what I call the "u" style. It will still work just fine without a center screw, but can have a slight wiggle to it since there's no anchor.

One way to get it a little more securely anchored is shown in my drawing attached. You can sometimes get a nut to sit within the U and sandwich the blade to the back half of the shell. That worked well on my tester.

Another option is to wait for my updated revision on this product. It's got a new feature specifically for this troublesome and rate "u" style.

See what you can do with the figure attached or just without the center screw and let me know how it goes.

YotaMD, Thanks for the diagram. Without using the nut to secure the key there is some wiggle but really shouldn't be an issue, just an annoyance. Securing with the nut over the edge, there is just enough room on the U-key to get the nut to grip it, however, it can't be tightened down too much or the it will pop out. So I cinched in down just enough to feel more stable but not enough to pop it out. Now it has reduced the wiggle to just the slightest and only with a little pressure. Thanks!

Dave, Thanks, I am planning to have this i-style key cut as a master key and switch over to it eventually.

Nice work, @Honor . Exactly what I was trying to convey. Glad it solved the issue!

If it becomes loose again in the future, please reach out to me. I've got a new revision of the metal pieces in the works that may help hold that nut captive so you can crank down on it a little more.

These are great. My truck only came with one key so I have to get this ordered to protect it!
