My customer's FJ Vin# is odd... it's FJ40-33816 There is no 1 or two in front of the FJ.

I will be picking up a '63 in a couple day's to do a body swap on. I already restored the chassis and will use the perfect body from the '63. I will post the Vin # of that one when I get it.

Later fella's,

Original

Got the '63 FJ40 picked up Vin on the Title says: 3FJ4016756

Not a very low # I'll check the frame and see if it matches tomorrow... I'm putting this body on a chassis I restored.

JP, how does the VIN compare to these: Oldest FJ40

Just curious, because if it was titled as a '62.........could be older. ;)

Cruiser_Nerd, I think you posted to the wrong thread, because your link opens up this thread in a new window. :D

not the oldest but close

I came across this one today...... 10421........ the body is in really good shape and the drivetrain is all there, the best part is underneath that gehetto hardtop job is all the original softop bows and even the softop doors. Of course you'd need to remove all that tin :grinpimp: The 60 rims would need to go and the hood isn't correct but besides that most of it is there. Thinking about making the guy and offer, although I imagine he will want twice what it is worth

So...did you end up talking to the guy about 10421?

BTW...my '64 is 2155X...that's older than Wes's.

ANy definitive answer to early FJ-40 serial #'s??

So has anyone figured this out yet? I just found an FJ-40 with serial # FJ40-37658. It doesn't have a 1, 2, 3, etc. before the number. And there is no date on the plate. What year is this rig??

Here's an Oldie for all the early folks!

Just joined and checking out the FAQ who has the oldest FJ40 around and here's some food for thought take a look at this one:

It's an original hardtop with the two jump seats on either side of the back.
I don't have the top unfortunately but I'm looking for one...?

TTT for anybody new w/early 40's

The thread that just won't go away. Thanks Johnny:rolleyes:

In answer to your question here is a few pictures of a 62. Not anywhere the oldest. VIN is 1FJ40~108XX.

These pictures were sent to me in Aug. 08. Has all the stuff my early 61 had except the air intake on the driver's apron. If you look at the last picture you will the front arm rest on the jump seat. Only on the 61 models. Part of the early bumper and a early PTO winch with four roller fairhead Toyota was offering thru their dealers.
