yes... 3-FJ4514218 is the oldest I've seen pics of on mud, but Rick D. said there was a 3-FJ4514088 at TLC was back in the day

I've mailed the seller for his VIN, it's FJ4520234, dunno if this contributes in any way.
The 4 before the fj40 in the vin, plus those vin numbers, and those are both 1964 models

Do any of the ozzies here read the 4wd action magazine, cause since Januari this year the DVD that comes with it has a section called "Allan the Project" where they restore a 1961 FJ45 wagon. Now obviously I don't know the VIN or anything but in the video they say it is a 1961 and is one of the oldes in Australia as they reckon only about 100 wagons or so made it to Australia.
The cool thing is the wagon doesn't look that bad at all considering its age and it even fired up after they put new fuel in it....
Maybe anyone knows more about this?

A little late on the reply here, but time to bump this old thread anyways and see if the internet can turn up anymore old 40's out there
As for the FJ45LV you mention in that series the "Allan Project" found here on youtube( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akbIm-LxEPs ). It is not a 1961 as they say in the video, it is actually from the last year the LV was produced 1967. They easiest way to tell that is the "eyebrow" or "brim" of the roof over the front windshield is only 1" unlike the earlier models which had a 3" brim through 1966. They are a lot of other features as well that point to it not being a 1961.
Still though cool series to watch none the less

On a recent trip to Colorado for some wheeling I stopped in at Classic Cruisers in Salida. I noticed a new early model they had in the graveyard so I decided to check out the VIN. To my suprise it was 1FJ40-10182 which I believe makes the it the earliest FJ40 accounted for on mud
The bad part was it had been heavily "customized" and not much original was left, but none the less it was cool to see such a very early FJ40. Pics below.

Most of our comments went something like "look at this ghetto rig. Why did they chrome everything? What is up with these ammo boxes on the bumper?" Then JP noticed the bezel and looked at the vin and we got pretty excited about it.
Hi, I have a very confusing Vin #
Mine is way too high in comparison to other on MUD.
Its a 1979 FJ40. VIN on chasis, firewall and title is fj40-917505
2F serial # 352129.
Any thoughts on why that is?
It's a Venezuelan FJ40, dunno if it makes a difference as vin numbers should be a world wide thing

I have the oldest to date. I have a 1961 FJ40 Vin 121. I am finishing up the paper work on it now. I will post photos in a few months when I start the restoration but it is 100% bone stock (With exception to the clutch master which was changed out for a newer master but that can be fixed and in running condition! I do not have the soft top but I do have the complete soft doors. The body is in great original shape.. Stay tuned!!!

you meen you have vin# 1FJ40-10121
the soft door are the hardest to find... you can make the bows... there is a thread in the 25 section about measurements for the top bows
