Who has the oldest/earliest FJ40? (FAQ)

That is interesting as my '62 softtop has the VIN of 2-FJ40-15617

that having been said, i just bought a 1961 fj40 with a pretty low vin #. who else on here has an early 40 and what's your vin?

As I recall Paul Decker has one of the lowest Vin. FJ40's.

Jackass's 63 is actaully a 62, the 2-FJ40...means 1962, 3-FJ40.....1963

now 45LV's are a real mixed bag of years and frame numbers....

Interestings about Frank 25, always wondered what happened to it, I actully some years ago had found his phone #.....never did call him.

just bought a 61 fj40 vin 1fj4010423. no resto here though; it's already got a small block in it. pretty sure that's an fj25 front bumper. the only other mod except for the engine are the louvers in the hood. besides that, the body is almost prestine. no rust in the sill.......

Georg- Just curious if yours has the big three prong gas cap like the 25?

And that is the early bumper. Nice low number!

the gas cap is missing but it is the early 3 prong style. right now it's got a late model chevy?! gas cap on it.

anybody have one of these for this rig?

The cap is true unobtainium, don't know of anyone that would part with one.

Maybe try one from a Series 2 Rover, it looks close:

Picked up a 1963 FJ40 with vin # 2FJ40-16921 and another I might purchase a 1962 FJ40 with vin # 2FJ40-15413.

Had to update the VIN as it actually has a 1 and not a 2.
