Procrastination: 12 years……. Not gonna win a ‘body-work’ MVP with it but I’m not as worried bout my feet punching through the floor now! After I got some paint on this, I realized more filler and sanding might be in order but I’m thinking….. Procrastination: another 12 years! 🤣

Scrap stainless counter. This post was lost in cyber space and then showed up after saving my redo.

Your floor didn’t look so bad.

My “new” floor waiting to be installed…

My rear tub I built in ‘92 is 1/8” steel. This stainless is a good 1/16” and will have 1/2” plate steel connecting the roll bar to where the body mounts to the frame. Not stock, but neither is my 40.

I've spent most of my recent time over in 200 land, but did get to spend some time with the 40 this week. I replaced the absolutely thrashed water pump in the 4BT, which had started puking water the other day while pulling stumps in the back yard. It's amazing how bad the bearings were, it sounded like it had gravel in there. One good thing about the Cummins is parts are fairly available and sometimes cheap.
When I installed the motor over a decade ago, I patched together some temporary radiator hoses with some pipe fittings, "for now". Took advantage of the opportunity of draining the coolant to put together some proper silicone hoses. Much Better!

The weather has been absolutely perfect lately, so I have been driving the '40 as much as possible. Glamour shot on the test drive just for fun!

NOT A MAJOR PROJECT…Acually great stuff for an older guy sitting on a 5 gallon pail behind the truck.

Had a dead directional signal left rear. Bulb was good but the positive contact pin for the bulb had zero support from the insulator that keeps it in place. It had split. Took the simplest path to solve the problem and glued it back together with support. Cyanoacrylate glues have an accelerator spray that makes it bond instantly. Using a thick heavy grade added some great support and it all went together well.

^^^^never heard of that glue but definitely filing this to the “in a pinch” file

Just remember …it ain’t s#it without the accelerator spray… back in the 70’s the guy hanging on a steel beam by his hard hat made it look amazing… in 5 decades, I mostly wound up with my fingers stuck together.. with the accelerator, it hardens instantly and if you are positioning something important, it can be a lifesaver.

I have had a few plastics it worked one occasionally but the accelerator is the “crazy” part of Crazy Glue…” it holds like crazy”

CA Glue with Activator Kit – 3 x 1.75 oz (Thin, Medium, Thick) + 16.9 fl oz Accelerator Spray, Cyanoacrylate Super Glue for Woodworking, 3D Printing, Plastic, Guitar Repair & Hobby Projects https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1DFSDMW?tag=ihco-20

Good to know, however if I ever find myself in conversation with a Jeep guy I’m going to refer to it as Cyanocrylate. It just sounds so much more sophisticated.
Try this instead; In Japanese, "cyanoacrylate" is translated as シアノアクリレート (shianoakurirēto). However, in daily life, it is universally referred to as 瞬間接着剤 (shunkan setchakuzai), which translates to "instant glue" or "super glue".

I've got a 4bt in my 60 and absolutely love it, while also absolutely acknowledging that I ruined my Land Cruiser haha.
Huge upgrade in many ways, yet managed to be loud enough to make me question if it was a good idea or not. 5 years and 50k miles later, I realize the fuel economy paid for the swap pretty quickly. At least i.can afford to feed my cruiser now...

Now we’re talking. I’m using that for sure. I feel like am moving to a whole other level of sophistication now. There is no limit to the knowledge passed along through i8mud forums.

I do love my 4BT, although I will readily admit it isn't the choice for everyone. As for ruining a cruiser, I put this together from a pile of rusty parts that I was given, and had no motors or transmissions, so isn't that saving a cruiser? ;) Before pic below...

Mine started its journey with me in rough shape as well. I'd rather save a s***box than buy something nice....

I too am sitting on a small hoarde of 40 parts hoping one day I'll find deals on the rest of the stuff I need to build one. 🤣
