put new side mirrors on and finished putting in the rehabbed steering wheel. Changed out the flasher assembly to the updated Toyota one. I knew a PO had installed a Napa one but of course they had to F with the wiring and connectors as well. I can appreciate people that did what they needed to in order to keep these things on the road. But. The simplicity of these things also encourages redneck engineering of the highest order. I now cringe every time I see black wiring tape inside and outside this thing.

I need to post this in Linda’s thread. I’m assuming that the lack of turn signals is due to poor grounds. Flashers do work (mostly?) but I get absolutely nothing when I use the turn signal switch.

When I bought this one, the left/ driver side turn signal housing wasn’t attached. I attached it, and it was mostly working, minus signaling.

After cleaning contacts, I thought I should clean up the grounds on the passenger/ right side. It did not go well.

I think I'm getting close to the bottom of the rabbit hole on this project. Some assembly will be required in the near future, once I figure that out.

~$1,800 for sandblasting everything other than front fenders and 3/4 tub which are already in primer.
As for the body work, $150 per hour. I don't really want to total the hours, just in case on the .01% chance she reads this thread. Ha

@igotta40 By the way…. I forgot to mention….THAT is a beautiful sewing machine. I have rebuilt several of my wife’s Singer 221 featherweights and custom painted one of them. Of all the modern machines she has…the 221 is her favorite
I have a 221 Featherweight made in October 1936. A little of the gold paint is worn off, but it runs great.

Likewise, I have a clause in my will, if I pass first, that prevents my wife from selling my guns for what I told her I paid for them. :)

My friends and I have often talked about creating a network of people across the country who look after your hobby stuff and make sure your spouse is taken care of / not taken advantage of once you pass. Cars/ Trucks/ Guns/ Watches/ Knives/ etc.

i just had this conversation with my wife the other day. That she should ask certain friends of mine with help at valuing some of the items I have collected. Like cruiser parts. Definitely don’t want her being ripped off!

I just wanted to put this out into the universe, maybe someone doing research will find this:
I ordered the combination lamp covers from the GR Heritage parts program, 75136-60040 and 75138-60020. I assumed these would fit my 1981 BJ44. Megazip lists 75136-60020 for my vehicle. Oddly enough though on toyodiy they all have the same description and you'd think that they interchange:

The new (and undercoated) ones are clearly longer than the original. I thought for sure this part would be the same across all of the 40 series. Live and learn. They may be up for sale soon.

Took her out for a drive today. Wife needed an iced tea so she ordered one on the McCrap app. We pulled in to a pick up stall and a young girl walked out the drink. She exclaimed, "Oh my God!! It's been so long since I've seen one of these old Land Cruisers and yours is so beautiful!" It felt good my work was appreciated.

Re: your "valuable" junk upon death.,
Take responsibility...
- Make a list of items of special value, either on paper or digital, kept with other important "upon death" papers.
- list items, current estimated value in today dollars, and a contact who knows said item, and can help spouse/kids in valuing/selling item.

Or if you are getting up there in years, help the spouse or kids out by starting the process of getting rid of extra stuff before they have to deal with it.

Just a thought
