Flushed the cooling system. New heater hose connector makes a good place to hook up the garden hose too

Thanks for that - finally got around to fitting my heater, so a good flush out at the same time is a great plan :)

My power steering pump sprung a major leak recently, fortunately there was a replacement unit around the corner at Autozone. Got about 8 years out of the first one so for $70 I’m rolling the dice again, prolly should have hit the deck for a new vs reman but we will see. I’m back on the road without having to mop the garage floor every time I turn the key.

I'd like to find one of those tachs to install on my '79 without spending 250 bucks for it.
You can print the bezel and housing if you search for the 3D archive on mud or thingyverse. If you don’t have a printer you can pay some one to print it. The one I uploaded takes an fj60 tach. I have bought a couple of those for $60 a piece in the past. You can do it for under $100.

Here's an update & a couple of pics of my 84' 4.0D HJ47, Refurbed 16' rims with 225x75x16 Falken Wildpeak at3 LTs it took a while to find them but here they are, EZ power steering in place & works great, back canopy is off as l'm going to be applying Raptor black to the tub floor & both cab floors & the side steps to well keep them from any rot. l'm currently waiting on the new front prop/pinion seal to arrive & complete F/R bearing kits, 2 speedi sleeves (l've the shoes/kit for the H/B here already), rear spring Urethane bushes (rubbers are perishing but springs are ok). Also had to buy another front radiator (the new rad that was previously fitted has developed a seam leak it'll get sent for repair & kept as a spare). The rains have finally stopped so l can get on with replacing the doors/cab weather seals, windows channels, locks/mechanisms. Fluids have finally all been replaced too.

@MOTOV8R

I'm old school and.don't see a 3D printer in my future. I do like how the bottom of the opening is flat. I have a couple of FJ62 tachometers which are also flat. Only difference is the RPM is 500 more before red line.
FJ62 tach goes to 5k instead of 4k is another difference.

I finished fabricating a fan shroud for the 3F-E I installed into my 68' FJ40. I made it out of a fan shroud out of an FJ62 and cut it shorter and welded it to an adapter plate.
Progress is going slowly but surely.

@ChaserFJ60 offers printing services. Also, I had a fj62 tach but decided on the fj60 tach, both should work. The housing that I designed/printed also accepts the light that is used in the oem housing.

Hope to get all the mechanical work sorted out by winter and have the body back on and running.

Made the pilgrimage to Mecca. Overwhelming. I could look at the architecture on the property alone for an entire day, forget about all the LC’s! What an awesome thing they have done to tribute to the vehicles that we all love. Thanks @cruiserdan !

Too hot to be outside (or in the garage with no AC) so I tackled a mixed media job. Restoring the transfer case shifter boot metal and leather. (I also found out I need to order a new inner boot from City Racer!) This leather feels like "glove leather" and looks amazing. Now I need floor mats so the work I did looks better. My wife liked the darker rivets rather than chrome, I had to agree they look great! (She says it looks like the Hogwarts Sorting Hat... :) )

Got it driveable today. Been dicking around with the carb for a couple days, couldn't get it to idle without full choke (no, it's not the fuel cut-off solenoid, I don't have one anymore). So today i took the carb all the way apart and put it back together and now it works. Took it for a little drive around the neighborhood and it does seem to accelerate a little quicker than before. Vacuum is an inch lower, wonder if there's a break-in for a valve job.
Fuel level in the porthole is just right too
