When I call the local dealer and they quote a price, I usually ask if that's the best they can do. Sometimes it works. On a $23 part there's not much movement, If any. I know I could buy it cheaper, but shipping usually screws it up.

I have the same on my FJ43. I had rubbing issues front and rear when I upgraded to the 17 inch steelies and wider tires. Looks great and I keep a torque wrench 🔧 Cheers 🍻

Constructed an idea I had thought up awhile back for a spare tire upper brake light on my 1975 Fj40. For more info on it and the thinking behind it see my build thread here:

Started with an OEM hubcap and DOT certified brake light that would sit inside of it.

Perfect fit and finish.

Am going to call around and see what my local dealers would sell them for. In the past I've seen local dealers selling parts at list plus 25%. Online seen them for less than $17. In the past I bought a couple sets and had to add another part to get free shipping on orders over $75. Believe those were over $30 at the time. If I can find even at list will probably pick up a couple more sets. List seem to be down to under $23 now. Thanks for the heads up.
Maybe Im not fully understanding the search properly but of the dozen or so times i have looked this up today, th cheapest I found with the harness was $23.00 AND $49.00 Shipping or $60.00 USA and free shipping

Searching the part number I have found a couple US dealers selling them for under $20. I called a local dealer and was quoted $28 and change, plus tax. Believe the list on these is $23.07. The $28 is actually a great price for what the kit includes I will not buy from a dealer who sells for more than list price. They are just being greedy. Years ago before the internet finding what the list price is was not as easy.

Check the online parts sites too. I just checked Autonation Parts Online, and they have it listed for $17.48. Stevinson Toyota West (Denver) has it on their online parts site for $17.34. I bought two kits from Stevinson and picked them up, so no shipping charges.

That's a great purchase, congrats mate!
Given that both my rigs are 24V, my question is: can I use it with the 24V system (even with a slight modification)? 🤔
I haven’t the expertise to answer your question.
Relays and fuses are included in the harness, maybe swap those?

Honestly, I was going to move the truck outside to get good lighting for pictures to show you all the improvements. The interior light, rear bench seatbelts installed and the rear license plate bracket lights are working now. But, my sweetheart came to see what I was doing and then I got distracted. I couldn’t help it, she became the photographer’s subject 😂🔧

Purchased a 1996 FZJ80 to accompany it…

Nothing like having two crippled cruiser projects in the garage at the same time.

@bernardbar3 I had taken photos of my girlfriend all around my 1974 FJ40 back in 1975…. That Land Cruiser has seductive energy… 49 years later they’re both still here. Although the cruiser is different, The girlfriend is the same except I changed her last name 45 years ago

By the way, these came in the mail today…. Another small step for the Sniper install and an assist for climbing into the cab. My dad’s advice years ago “don’t get old”

So many great parts for your 40 series. An 80 series master and booster will really make up your 40s brakes.

You’re not wrong! I’ve already done rear disc brakes, do need to get a modern master and booster in still.

Currently, I’m watching the Downey Header thread religiously hoping for an update to order a new header for the 40, then she’ll be back on the road. Now that I have a second project though, I may just bite the bullet and get the JTO header so I can move it under its own power and enjoy it some.

As far as scavenging parts off the 80, I bought the 40 about 15 years ago, before I had kids. The 80 is going to be the more kid friendly option for overland adventures. A photo of them helping fix the upper tailgate handle.

So cute!

I finally made time to remove the heater. I live in SoTx so our winters are very mild. (I don’t need no stinkin heater!!) Plus I have a tall blonde gf with long legs and she needed more room, so the heater had to come out! lol.

I kept the A/C unit mounted dead center so it’s in a perfect place.

Are you going to sell this heater? I’m moving to a colder climate in a few months? Thanks

Replaced the tenths wheel on my odometer today.
