Saw this and thought of everyone up north. My hometown in rust belt included.

Could be worse… I really wasn’t happy when the salt truck merged in front of me. A couple miles down the road I passed a tow truck pulling two cars out of the ditch that had gone off the highway because of black ice.

Edit… I missed a key part. I was riding a ‘99 BMW F650 motorcycle. I’d felt it squirm a bit a few miles and had thought it was just the frost on the roads. The salt truck made me extra nervous, and seeing two cars had left the road freaked me right out.

I’ve always cringed when the salt truck is going the opposite way in the other lane and as he passes me all it can hear is the salt pelting the truck like small buckshot. For the last 10years or so they use a liquid brine and you see the stripes …when they’re wet, you’re doomed

Another small step in the process for installing the Holley Sniper……this came in the mail
Fuel pressure gauge and the adapter

Replaced the junction blocks. I still need to test the lights after the swap. Looks like I left a washer on the drivers block!

It was a good weekend. I removed the old black paint from the transfer case and cleaned it up best I could. I found a small repair was done at some point using JB Weld(?). Gotta love these Costa Ricans. She's got a few battle scars but she's been a very dependable. I also had to adjust the headlights because they looked like Marty Feldman's eyes. After a quick inspection I noticed they weren't a match, so I ordered a new set of Sylvanias. Will install them when they arrive later this week. I'm replacing the plastic green fuel cap with a nice shiny one made of metal. It's also on the way. What can I say, I'm an old school sumbish.

I'm also going to remove the AVM locking hubs (barely a 100 miles on them) and replace them with a nice set Warn hubs that I purchased a few months ago. Those things are extra beefy.!! It's going to be a productive week.

Just a few more thing left on the to-do list. .. (yeah right!)

put some winter tires and wheels on as i wiped out. a few weeks ago with old unsafe tires!

also added some castor shims up front to help with driveline angle.(this is a photo before i stalling the second one and before tightening them down. that’s not how they are currently sitting!!)

Do yourself a favor and get a set of the Toyota headlights with harness/relays/fuses for around $20.

These are a good deal but haven't found one a set for around $20 once you add in shipping. Wiring, fuses and relays that isolate these from the old original wiring make these different than other lamps out there.

I got mine for $19 plus tax picked up at a local dealer. All the extra jazz was just more icing on an already palatable cake. These lights are a fantastic upgrade in my opinion.

I even bought two sets just because.

I put a beer or two on the fender after I refreshed the T-case and the transmission with a fluid swap and a drive of course.

That's a great purchase, congrats mate!
Given that both my rigs are 24V, my question is: can I use it with the 24V system (even with a slight modification)? 🤔

Am going to call around and see what my local dealers would sell them for. In the past I've seen local dealers selling parts at list plus 25%. Online seen them for less than $17. In the past I bought a couple sets and had to add another part to get free shipping on orders over $75. Believe those were over $30 at the time. If I can find even at list will probably pick up a couple more sets. List seem to be down to under $23 now. Thanks for the heads up.
