Not sure the years during the seventies but those were standard equipment on all FJ40 in the US.. Like most tool kits they when MIA and never passed on with the sale of the cruiser. Think it was during the nineties had someone give me a set still in the bags. Which is where there still are today.

I defeated my weathered and stripped out windshield rests with a shot of PB and vice grips. Then ordered a replacement set from SOR.

Lathe strips are now THE WAY. For delicate long skinny items for sure

I scooped up a roll of SNOW FENCE on spring clearance at Southern States farm store best 19.95 I ever pulled out of my drawers !

Endless pre made latch strips !


And

Banged out some 1962-10/85 Cold Climate Spec. Snow Version option grade reproduction B+ 40 series battery cables …

I have concluded my decision to bump 2 size specs to 2 AWG was a solid one and here we shall stay

I am working with a fellow member as we speak and mapping out what i think and hope will be a text book plug and play same applications as above NEG. Ground complete 3 pc cables system that will hop scotch from the new- post to inner below frame rail , have a splice point via a 12mm hex bolt into a captured nut that so far all 40s have from 10/85 back till at least 12/74

If the F and F1.5s don’t have this same captured nut ?

Then i have a 2nd top secret location close that all 40s do indeed have

We also come off the neg OEM service terminal with a body ground via a 6 AWG to NOT the fender ….

No no no

But the fire wall itself via running along the fender

Then we tie in the engine block

Grounds are a bit tricky to make it all polerized but
It will come to be here very very soon

And of course the kit will be littered like a cats litter box with OEM toyota and ANCHOR marine ONLY parts that’s a give me !

The escape pod is almost ready. Got her loaded on my new-to-me, SOA flat bed today and went for a local checkout tow!

The new tie downs are slick!

And the tongue only weighs 511 lbs!

Does this still count even though it wasn't done to my cruiser per se? I bought this piece off someone at the Valley Hybrid sponsored swap meet specifically for some wall art. Then I had these TLCA placards I didn't know what to do with so I put them together. Now just need to find somewhere to hang it.

you mention needing some where to hang it , i would just hang it on your wall ...

Its be awhile since I posted. Got the timing gear cover gasket replaced. So far things look good, but then again I've said that before.
Got to get it ready for some fishing trips and what have you. Put the basket on.
Installed the awning.

Added some rod holders.

Had this trout given to me by a friend, so I put that on too.

Added a roll-bar storage option.

I lifted this idea from another MUD member who was using it as a tailgate when trekking around topless. I've been looking for ideas to store small items IE Beach gear, fishing rods and other items I wanted up off of the deck. I've rode tested it around the "compound" a few times and it seems to work for the intended purpose. Easy to remove, store and re-deploy.

I had envied those new 2F alternator tensioners I've seen lately. Was hesitant to buy one as i do not have a Toyota alternator. It's a Herr. When i swapped in the 2F block, i did not have the upper bracket or tensioner. So i made my old late F alt bracket fit.
Just pounded it between two rocks until it sorta fit. Then used a crowbar to adjust the tension.
Then i heard, after i asked, that i could get a good used one locally. So i did. (Thanks @pardion)
Simplicity itself to install, had to fiddle with bolts & washers & stuff. Probably should grind down the mount a little to make it perfect.

What's the back of this look like?

The Toyota alt is threaded and the affixing bolt that clamps the bracket to the alt has a 40mm (or so) unthreaded end that sticks out the back that the adjuster component (not sure what to call that) rides on loosely.

I cleaned up the very oily version of this adjuster for my air pump recently. I still have all the original hardware and it works great.
