So today I did a thing, and am very proud! I know there are many members who are very competent spanner spinners, I go ok but am paranoid about rushing and breaking things.

In the last month or so with the car, I have asked every passenger in the front to help me locate an annoying wind noise. No help. Only happens above 80km/h and when windy. But then my 11 year old boy said, “it’s coming from here, winds coming out” pointing to where the passenger window goes into the door.

I compared both sides as per the photo, bearing in mind it’s RHD, you can clearly see the gap between the window and seal.

So, after a few YouTube searches, I found some videos explaining that unless you put the window seal / trim on the door frame, prior to putting the door trim on, it won’t clip in properly and there will be issues. VOILA!!

So a few more YouTube’s on how to remove the door trims, followed the videos and all fixed!! I didn’t take an after photo as it was dark, but now looks the same as the driver’s door.

Gents, I know this is small fry, but I’m so stoked!! I’ll be on the freeway tomorrow for 3hrs, hopefully in silence!!

Definitely not small fry.

It is so satisfying to find an annoying noise then do away with it. I have also had my kids on the hunt for various car noises in the past. My wife thinks I’m crazy because she will hardly notice it but it will be the only thing I hear.

Congrats!

Haha, as one who has pretty much torn a car to pieces hunting for squeaks and rattles, kudos for getting it sorted

I just bought a set of icon rebounds last night to replace the 0 offset methods.
Are there any sales going on for Icon wheels right now?

Not done yet this week but I have ambitions for the Monday holiday:

How many fluids in how many cars can I change in one day on my back on the garage floor?
I didn't complete as much as I'd hoped but did get to the front and rear diffs (6+ qts), transmission (13 qts), engine (8 qts), PS reservoir drain/fill (<1 qt), PCV valve replaced and throttle plate cleaned.

15,000 miles on the gear oil with 2-3,000 of those off road or towing and the fluid looked almost new.

I don't think the ATF has ever been touched. At 100,000 miles, I'm very pleased with how seamless the shifting is. I didn't think it was that bad before, but now it's so smooth.

Now I just need another holiday to tackle the AHC globes.

The radiator is pre-2018 style but shows no crack at all. Maybe I'll wait until that starts and just replace the coolant once the radiator and water pump are off anyway. 120,000 miles? Alternator then too?

If you plan on replacing the fluid and the globes, you need 2 more cans of fluid than your picture shows.that job took me about 8 hours due to one stubborn bolt, but in the end, no damage to me or the truck. Won’t say the same about the garage. The only drama was when I tried to back the truck down the ramps without removing the rubber chock blocks I had on the ramp as safety stops. I was in 4low and “gave it the beans”….

How? What kind of lift do you have? The best i'm getting is 13.5-14 on 285/75/17 and a 2.5" lift.
Just a guess, but low speeds, tailwind, and/or downhill.

Stock-size KO2s by themselves will kill 1-2 mpg all else being equal.

Big time props on getting all that done in one weekend! I've done all of that in the last 6 months but was only ever able to knock out one thing per weekend before my wife is walking out in the driveway with the baby asking how much longer it's going to be lmao.

Wow, that is pretty bad! I'm only seeing that mpg in city driving.

Mine has Eibach Stage 1 suspension - 1.75" front, 1" rear on 285/65/18.

Surprisingly no. This was achieved going 65 mph on a highway, just normal driving over a roughly 20 mile stretch. No cruise control, no downhill, etc.

I'd consider 65 relatively low speeds, personally.
