Rotated tires and greased the driveline. You know, sexy stuff. When I get an actual whole day, I will replace accumulators and flush the AHC fluid.

Interested in mileage of globes and pencil test please. However rudimentary. Also lifted or not.

Thanks!

Finished up installing @turbo8 200 series skid plate system | E&E Off-Road - https://www.ee-offroading.com/product-page/200-series-skid-plate-system

The frame/brace seems super beefy. The cutouts for oil changes are great. Pretty easy to install with one person with the LX just in H mode. And happy to have some cat protection being in SoCal.

152k currently. Original globes as far as I know. The ride is just a little rough, and there is not much difference between sport and comfort.

I don’t know what the pencil test is, but I guess I can search the forum.

HAHAHA, no need to search. Put a number 2 in there and take a pic.
We just entered the bronze age with AHC. Primitive i know.

Great to see another install. I am still in awe of the build quality of these. I did mine on the LC in about 3.5 hours on the ground by myself. I probably could have cut an hour out of that had I prepped the hardware with Loc-tite prior to starting and had a better understanding of the reverse assembly so that I wasn't crawling out from under the truck so many times to look at install instructions lol. I look forward to adding his future additions to the system and the cat deterrent guards are a nice bonus.

that skid design is a work of art!

Cant wait for my shock mounts!

Got the fluids below for diffs, transmission, transfer case and power steering fluid.

Next: lower control arms as the bolts for alignment have frozen. Going to also do the OEM LC front spacers, replace a leaking rear shock, and do the AHC fluid. Then sliders and skids go on.

Anything else to do while addressing all of this? Or recommendations on where to find parts?

Well here’s a new one

Noticed a coolant drip, thought it was the petcock valve so I pulled the skids and made sure it was closed tightly. Got it cleaned up and started the truck and there is substantial coolant seepage out of the bottom of the radiator.

It less than 50k miles old.

This radiator failed a pressure test (obviously). Writing a stupid big check to get it done and back on the road before heading to Sedona this week. Woof.

From my experience doing the transmission fluid exchange is that it’s a good idea to have a couple extra quarts on hand. You may need more than the 12 quarts when you are all said and done and after completing the fluid level check. I ended up loosing more ATF then I thought from the return line during the multiple drain and fill processes. Not fun to stop mid stream to try and track down more fluid especially on a weekend.

For the Transfer case you could save some money going with the full synthetic Ravenol 75w or the Redline line 75w. The Ravenol has treated me well over the last 3 years.

Also double check the ATF/power steering fluid to make sure it’s compliant with the Power Steering. From experience using Redline fluids they have two different ATF fluids: D4 and D6. One is for the transmission and the other is for the Power steering.

Good point. I will add another 6 quarts to be safe.

Probably would have been fine with non OEM but OEM was favorable to my assessment of risk vs reward and peace of mind. With more research I might go Ravenol next time. Just didn’t have time to fully read up on all options here and it is a big item if it goes south so figured worth a couple extra bucks on fluid to keep it happy.

The Redline GL5 75W 85 is for the diffs and the Mobil 1 ATF is for the PS. Seems like this is what several on the forum recommended.

I think I went through 15 quarts being a total clutz during the process. My mistake was not making sure the plastic drain line, that was to capture and route the old fluid, was securely connected. Ended up loosing more fluid then I anticipated and had a driveway covered in ATF...good times. The plan was for a full Amsoil ATF exchange but due to my accounting errors I was nearly two quarts short. Couldn't find any Amsoil local to me on short notice so I substituted in some Redline ATF.

I have been using the Redline 75-90 for the diffs with good results, I don't think you can go wrong with Redline. I am also using their fluid for the power steering. And will probably switch over to their 75w for the T-case next service interval.

Isn't this for the older 4 speed transmissions? I think you want WS.

I got this from the thread below. Seemed like it meets the specs and is correct.

Agreed.

That's not the right transmission fluid. You want Toyota WS.

I would encourage you to order from a dealer and not Amazon due to potential fraudulent/fake products.

Good catch and thank you! I was on a call and thought you were referencing the diff oil.

Agreed.

Again, good catch and thank you!

Edit: cancelled the transmission fluid above and ordered WS through Amazon from Lexus Oxnard.
