Good job! There is a thread in the 80's forum on how to fix the sagging pocket in back. I followed it and it worked great!

What do you mean with 3+1 wiring upgrade?

Finished the timing belt job. Upgraded to a DC Power 180a alternator and did the "big 3+1" (currently 2+1) wiring upgrade as well.

I'm letting the FIPG set up overnight then filling with Toyota long life coolant and fingers crossed I did everything right.
is the DC Power 180A alternator a direct bolt up?

Other than drilling out the charge cable to 8mm or 5/16" to fit the larger stud on the alternator, yes. I believe it is also recommended to get a larger fuse.
Thanks for the info. Currently sitting at +/- 200k so thinking this may be something I consider sooner rather than later

Considering doing this myself. What did you consider the most tricky/frustrating parts? And did you replace the foam as well?
Nothing tricky, just take your time and follow video to make sure you dont break any tabs on the plastic trim pieces. Actually stretching it and getting the hog ring clamp down as far as i can so it's nice and taut was a little annoying. I didn't replace the foam. I used this video

That time again and preparing to replace a UCA that I suspect I damaged a bushing on while pressing them in last year. Also a test fit for some rear trailing arms…View attachment 3867152View attachment 3867156
Whoa! Those look beefy!

Rebuilding the trabsfer case this week. Adding part time kit at the same time 😃

Doing any low-range gears too?
I've been considering rebuilding my T-case to rule it out as part of my cabin resonance issue - but, I know if I do, it's going to get expensive fast with all the other upgrades I'd want to do at the same time too, hahaha.

I just did my passenger side. The hardest part was getting the outer plastic trim pieces off there is a strange lock that is hard to get. Watch the video by the same guy for the 3rd gen 4 runner. He has a good tip for stretching the cover on by slapping. I used it on mine and it worked great!

Finally was able to get this project done! This trim piece replaces the factory DVD player screen to allow you to store sunglasses/etc up there. More info here.
This has been 'on the list' for quite a while now - glad I was able to finish it up.

Did you follow a DIY video on youtube? I'm about to tackle TB job and mostly worried about getting the new belt on / timing. A few videos I watched show people starting on the driver side cam to crank to passenger side cam and others start at the crank then driver cam then passenger side cam.

Such a cool project to get a little space from a compartment that is likely never used, especially because it removes a potential parasitic drain (DVD screen open/close sensor not switching off is a documented failure mode on the forum).

I did watch Otraam’s video on YouTube. Crank to driver’s to passenger’s is the way to go.
