Thanks @cruiseroutfit for the updated front setup!

Old gears are Nitro from 10+ years ago, we’ll see how the new Revolution gears hold up! Looking forward to the new front ARB locker to match the rear, updated to the new brushless twin too.

I’m seeing a lot of Nitro gears blow up lately in my circles. 🤔

Also what QPM is that? DIY or did you buy something?

Short answer, Witt's End....long answer, got shafted on the pre-buy, figured I'd get the Delta if I ever got the itch to buy again. Guy that bought out the bankruptcy auction lots from Joey's warehouse made good on sending me a scratched panel with 2 birch boards for the cost of shipping. He could have told me to pound sand, but fortunately his actions prove that there are still some stand up guys out there!

On the gears, it looks like the fatigue point was where the hole is in the bottom of the largest single tooth that is missing...it's the bottom of the bolt hole for the ring gear, but seems that it is where one entire tooth came off as a big chunk. I will say that I was hung up and jockeying back and fourth to try and slip off of the hanger rock in a black marked creek bed trail...it blew when I was doing the F/R transitions. Fortunately I'm converted to part time on the front drive and was able to make it 400+ miles home since nothing up front was spinning. :steer: 🦀

Installed the Slee headlight upgrade harness & I’m truly impressed. Kicking myself for not taking a before pic of the headlights. I really need some Depos but I’m still happy with the wiring upgrade and improved lighting. Not sure if the pic helps but the Slee wiring is taped in several places to my original wiring using the Tesa electrical tape and a handful of zipties. Sorry for not editing out my fat head on the left.

I have the kit on mine since the PO installed it, but I’ve been generally unimpressed with the headlights. Did you also upgrade bulbs? If so, what did you use?

Celtic, what are the advantages of the Slee headlight harness kit over the stock wiring?

Eric,

Sorry about your gears. I've got revolution 4:88's in mine and have put about 12k on them so far with no troubles. people seem to like them.

Range day with a new tool.

I will take this group at 200 yards with iron sights and cheap ammo through an ak.

The LC's transmission seemed to slip a bit more than normal on the 3-2 downshifts while pulling up hills this past weekend.

Turns out the transmission's kickdown cable had some play in it. But it was the motivation needed to get these from Cruiser Matt's site. 😬

You need to elaborate man! Lol

"I had a car problem so I bought some metal." What's unclear about that?

LS swap mounts. LS swap has been the long-term plan, especially once the 3FE or transmission showed signs of needing work. The transmission slipping turned out to be a false alarm this time, but it got the ball rolling for the swap.

Looking at an LQ4 with 4WD 4L80E from a friend's retired 2500 Suburban. Both could use a refresh due to mileage, but they were offered for a very reasonable price.

I've bookmarked & read through a lot of the recommended threads on here. Still have to finish the official "8x Series V8 Swaps" thread. But it's been enough to get started on a parts spreadsheet.

Happy to pay some beer moeny and a therapeutic session for that excel file.

No need to pay. Most of it is sourced from the work of others on here. And it will still be a trial & error effort on my part.

But I'll be happy to share an updated version with what works & doesn't work once the fun begins.

What's the estimated cost these days for an LS Swap?

There are a lot of variables involved. My current goal is to try to keep an OEM style setup (FJ gauge cluster, shifter, etc) using the donor LS harness & PCM.

My parts list is already at $7K (drivetrain included) and could easily hit $10K. A built engine or standalone ECU, harness, and conversion boxes could quickly add more.

I'm hoping to keep costs down using what parts I can source from the donor car, lower cost spare parts from friends, online sales, etc.
