Delta bracket installed! Now that the turbo is ripping, it’s time to fix the suspension on this pig. Got bushings ordered for most major components, tie rod end 555’s are here and emkeith castor plates need burned in. Will probably end up with new dobinson suspension also. The 10 year old slee kit is pretty tired.

Took my 80 and my essentially stock 2012 XTerra Pro-4X to Hidden Falls Adventure Park today. My son drove my 80. It’s triple locked with a 2 1/2” OME lift, 4.88 gears, 35” tires, WK sliders/skid plates, ARB bumper, and Warn 10K winch. The XTerra has the same sliders, Z1 Off-road skid plates, ARB bumper, Badlands 9.5K winch, and a 2” cheapo spacer lift in the front and an extra spring in the back. It has the factory rear locker and 265/75r-16 (32”) tires.

The XTerra held its own for a basically stock vehicle, but it was nowhere near as good as the 80. I think I will need to do a Titan suspension swap and 35’s to give it a fighting chance of keeping up with the Land Cruiser.

This is last year, so not complying with the thread title, but driving over Ivanhoe Crossing in the kimberley. Incredible country at the north tip of western australia.

Took the first cruise in my manual swapped 91, felt very good after all the work! Still got locking hubs to install, and finish making a shifter boot/cover the big ass hole in the floor. A few bolts fell from Matt down in Florida. Of course now it’s not running right, won’t start without jumping the FP and B+ terminals and then won’t idle unless I give it gas. So gotta dive into that but was nice to actually just shift theough the gears today!

And in the same year I was in Esperance, the opposite end of western australia to the previous photo. The only highway connecting the west coast from top to bottom was cut off due to the Fitzroy Bridge being destroyed by flooding, so with a job on a tight timeline (5 days) I drove the long way Esperance - Kununurra through 3 states and almost 5000km in a 1FZ-FE 80 series. I think I might have depleted about 13% of australias petrol reserves in one go.

Ya now the drive shaft will take the hit.
You can continue on with a smashed muffler not so much with a smashed/broken drive shaft.
Mr T had it right when he lined the bottom of the muffler up with the bottom of the gas tank skid. It helps protect the drive shaft.
I have seen to many broken drive shafts on the trail after the owner did this.

I just got an estimate for rerouting my exhaust over the frame this morning... $1,900. :wideyed:
Check with front range or muffler masters.

Call back and select the non-titanium option?

I think the main focus on his project was to get the lower pipe up over the frame like the early trucks...thankfully I have a '94 for this and have the OG over the frame transition from CATs to muffler.

Now the best of both worlds would be to have OBD2 so I could just slap a turbo on!

That my be true but in doing so he opened a bigger can of worms 🤷‍♂️
I think you missed the most important part you have much harder time getting off the trail with a damaged drive shaft.
Put you money where your mouth is because Cruiser & Company is almost ready to release the OBD1 turbo 😎

Oh, don’t worry, that’s on my short list for sure!

I agree on the DS too…mine had a nice spiral scar along with the OEM muffler can…survived the encounter that time though, but with splines going, swapped out for a Tom Woods DC. Keeping the OG for a trail spare.

I have 3.
1 good street use
2 beat for trail use
3 mangled trail spare
🤣
