…and after some cleaning before I pull the cover / seal off. The 1FZ is a thing of beauty. I think I may have pitted the aluminum a bit on the cover but I believe it should be fine.

I just used your standard Gunk brand I think it is. I shot the tough areas with a quick burst of brake cleaner and then scrubbed with toothbrush. Then pressure-washed it off. Maybe the brake cleaner reacted.

about to go remove the airbag so I can pull the steering gearbox 😓

battery has been out for 24 hours, but I do not want to jostle things at all

Got my second Blackstone back. I'll do one more on the next to verify trend. But it looks like either the po lied aboit the beb being done or they're failing.

I have a set already so I guess it's time to do some reading on how to. Seems straight forward.

Just need to wait for better weather so I can dd a different rig.

It doesn't make anymore noise than I'd expect for an old diesel and oil pressure seems inline with other 1hdt's

Good work looks great, don’t worry about the aluminum the worst is does is etch it a little and usually makes it darker which it looks like yours did not!

Going back together...

This one got or is getting every hose under the hood replaced, new VSVs, knuckle job, new p/s pump, new antenna, new fuel filter, new OEM rear shocks (its not lifted), EGR refresh, engine wiring harness refreshed, TB and manifolds cleaned and many oil leaks fixed. Solid chunk of baselining. 😉🤙

Cheers

I fought with my p.o.s lawn mower for about 4 hours this evening. My 80 took me on a Stabil and spark plug run.

Oil pump cover seal and crank seal installed. This is the 2nd 80 series I’ve owned and the 2nd one I’ve done this on and this time I used my little cordless impact driver for the oil pump cover screws. Wow what a difference that makes. They pop right out versus using a ratchet. I did use the #3 JIS bits.

I bought that exact screw gun for exactly that job on mine 8 years ago. It worked perfectly.
