Shaky PS mirror fix. Zip-tie method works like a charm. (see 80 Series FAQ for common repairs)

Started laying out the Scoobie scoop and vents ......... luckily it's on a spae hood so I'll have a bit less pressure....

Still need to get my hands on an IC'er ....... anyone hear from the guy who was fabbing them up recently.... I've PM'ed and messaged with no result.....

Any insight on the scoop and vents from those who've done it ? I've read thru most of the threads and likely won't do the scoop until I find a IC..... but hope to get the vents done this weekend.

TIA

Forgot - it's all worthless without pics.....

Removed and re-sealed my second oil pan in three weeks. It went much smoother the second time. I let it sit overnight to let all the oil drain down and also used a lift, got dirty but not nearly as dirty as last time.

Charcoal canister replaced with a VC120 unit. Running a new single cat converter. New O2 sensors next on the list

500 mile round trip to Honea Path to go camping with my son. The mighty LC didn't skip a beat and was one of the only vehicles to make it to the camp site and back out. My kid was grinning from ear to ear when his friends parents cars couldn't make it. Priceless.

Did some hard winching.....ha It was broke down deep in the back yard. Screw pushing. Let me 3 yr. old do you first pull with a winch.

After the recent investment in new tires I decided to get the pig aligned. Well after 195K the tie rod ends were frozen. Must be here first time. Had to replace them and the tie rod so I can take it back to the alignment rack this week. Slee tie rod and OEM ends. Easy job with a puller. And for anyone planning this a 29mm and 32mm wrenches are whats needed to adjust the ends. Or a pair of large adjustables.

Way kewl.....what was the terrain and what vehicles were the humiliated peers and parents driving?

Took it for its maiden trip off-road at a workday at Uwharrie ... not great pics, but still a nice day out. Based upon my knowledge of prior owners' use and a detailed look at the undercarriage, I suspect this was the first time the truck has seen anything more difficult than a graded gravel road ...

Final night of camp had rain which started around 0330 in the morning. The road leading down to the primitive camp sites was all red clay, so the following morning it was mush... So besides the LC there were a handful of HD 4x4 trucks that made it, oh and a heavy duty Ford tractor the local caretaker drove to pull the folks out. The other vehicles that did not attempt were minivans assorted 2 wheel pickups and the occasional car. It was awesome to be one of the folks to get used to pack Mule some of the supplies and camp gear out. :steer:

flew to san diego, bought it, and drove it home to SF. Saw some wild fires, and stopped at historic Mission San Antonio (really cool).

Attended my first GSMTR! Thank you to STLCA. They put on a fine event. Lots of great guys and gals from all over the southeast and further were in attendance. One FJ80 was even raffled off!

Search GSMTR 2014. There are several picture and video threads.

Went to Pisgah National Forest for bluegrass festival 3 days of camping with my Hannibal roof top tent. It was everything I could hope for, easy setup, spacious and warm on the cold nights. Drove 7 hours to get there with unnoticeable change mpg. I fabricated a temporary roof rack that did the job well. View was great, breakfast in downtown Blowing Rock was enjoyable. Looking forward to next year.
