I'll confirm this is incorrect. Cable MUST spool off of the bottom of the drum. 180* the winch, and re-clock the clutch lever and you should be good to go.
They're typically on the bottom, so nothing to worry about. Just disconnect the battery end before moving the winch around so you don't accidentally short something out.

Well, after a weekend of pulling off the intake from the airbox to the throttle body, chasing down vacuum hoses & lines, and making gentle throttle cable adjustments, I've finally got the old girl to idle at a consistent 650 or so. It's the smoothest shes ran in the years I've owned her and I didn't feel like I was going to stall out at traffic lights or with the lights on at night. The biggest offender seems to have been the first intake hose (17881-61110) where the nipple meets the hose to the IAC. $87 and a trip to the local dealership later, she's running great. Got her running just in time for there to be no gas around, great!
I bought one from LCP as well. Yeah, I know I can find one for cheap on e-bay or make one but as you said, wanted to support another mud member. I like being able to communicate directly with the seller and product creator. I’ll gladly pay extra for all that.
The brakes were noticeably soft over the last few days and noticed the brake fluid level was low - Brake booster tested fine per FSM and no obvious leaks in the engine bay. Topper her up but still soft and assume it got some air in the system so I bled the brakes and activated the abs and rebled them. Much firmer pedal now and maybe the source of the leak is the rear caliper as it looked a little wet but that may have been from bleeding the brakes. Will keep an eye on the levels and see if they drop again.
Driver side door handle snapped on me last weekend. I was surprised to find a new one from the dealer. Glad that this isn’t something that had been discontinued.
This piece is SO nice I may have to get one for the passenger side too.
