Received my tires the other day. 37x12.50x17 Toyo open-country. It'll fit right?

Finished up my head gasket project. She started up on the first try but with what felt like a pretty big miss. Rechecked the cables, plugs, and connectors to find that number six injector wasn't plugged in all the way. Doh! Runs beautifully on all six cylinders.

Briefly had a CEL with Code 26 but it has disappeared. I'll keep an eye on that one and double check for any vacuum leaks.

I did a couple of starts/idle sessions and then changed the oil. I'll be interested to see how the Liland radiator works out.

Hoodless test drive to blend in with the local flavor.

Happy to be running again!

Couldn't have done it without the FSM, previous Mudders reports, and a few handy friends!

Running the same tires, well 13.50 (rather have the 12.50 honestly)

Enjoy. Glad to see another chrome mirrored black 80 series out there.
Cool. I guess I never really noticed there aren't that many with chrome mirrors. I was just up in Lebanon on Friday picking up some parts from the laser cutter. Small world!

A group of us Atlanta guys have had a Coppinger trip planned for a couple of months. I bilissfully ignored the heavy rain we got last week despite the fact that the cove gets extremely dicey with its many many water crossing. The first crossing was over our hoods.

One particular crossing was over the hood and 150' across at least. There was a coke maching sized rock hiding under the surface and it bought my lunch. Felt like I hit a telephone pole then I bounced and floated for a bit. Got across nonetheless. New ShortBus took a lick, along with my drag link, tail shaft, and rear control arm.

What I didn't notice was the front sway bar mount that failed and caused the sway bar to take out my hard brake line. Well I didnt notice until I almost smashed in to the back of @Wermz when my brake pedal went to the floor. Despite what some have said, a vice grip did not work to pinch the line and I lost all my brake fluid. Low gear and rear brakes got off that section of rocky track after a couple of hours of puckered crawling. In true Coppinger Cove form, we came around a corner and found a well picked over Tacoma on its side. Pretty much conpletely stripped, there were plenty of hard brake lines left to pick from.

Insane trip we wont soon forget. Props to @Wermz aka Gearz for trail fix and perfectly eyeballed hard line custom bends. And the parking lot brake bleed. Props to @MongooseGA for driving like a madman and making some insane ribs.
Oh and my new extended front diff breather worked great

@Wermz made a killer video of the trip here

Sounds like a crazy fun trip, you are super lucky you found that tacoma.

The vise grips got me home safe, but I used them on a soft line, but I can see why they wouldn't work on a hardline. It makes me wonder if it would be possible to simply kink/bend a bad hardline to seal the system...

Yea no dice with the hard line. We used crimpers and that seemed to work but by that point it was pretty dry. Kink/ bend doesn’t work either as the line tears or breaks. I’m going to grab a spare to throw in my drawers. And brake fluid. We didn’t have brake fluid.

first step to fitting 37's with 2" lift? Did the hard work for you.
🤔🤔🤔
It’s lifted 3” (originally) with 33’s. Where and how much is the cut for the 37s?

I’m just joking. I imagine much more cutting would be required for a 2” that’s probably better for your 3” tho! You would need much more in the rear also as wel(top center) or tall bump stops . It’s pretty common on the front and doccumentent here quite a bit. I’m waiting on my lift and threw my big fat 10” rim and 13.5’s and about 3.5” and rub just in the inside corner.

Even smaller world...I'm also a laser cutter lol
Even smaller. I have a black 96 with chrome and work with lots of laser cutters....and fabricators......and engineering stuff........and stuff.

Other people mock me for my chrome. I like it! You know who you are.......
