What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (108 Viewers)

After years of suffering burst bursas in my knee caps from various sports injuries, every time I kneel on the back hatch I feel it & worry I may rupture a bursa again. I finally got it together to pull the Wagongear lid, remove the edging, and reinstall with a foam track pad - the same you’d use on a surfboard or SUP deck. I just wish I’d done it sooner! Sometimes it’s the simple things.

Great idea! I am currently shopping tailgate solutions and the lack of any semblance of padding was a concern.

You can grab a piece of aluminum angle from the hardware store and make an edge guard to keep your storage carpet intact on the edge. I also learned that the unfortunate way after dragging a few things out.

Good job

I can't speak for TN but I spent a year in GA back in 2013. It was so beautiful but there was so much trash everywhere. I was blown away by the liter situation in GA. It really made me appreciate Utah. Now I always try to pick up any trash I do come across.

I commend you for your efforts. We should start a new sticky thread, what trash did you clean up with your 80 this weekend.....
It is unfortunately similar in rural places here as well.

Sadly they don’t have any public trash pick up and very few private companies willing to service these areas and the “convenience centers “ are now few and far between, plus that requires effort to take it there.

Throughout Appalachia before Dumpsters where created each rural community would have a “holler” or a steep bank they would dump the junk that wouldn’t burn, which is how they disposed of cardboard, paper etc.

A few folks still have that mentality and find that spot, which is far worse now that we live in a society of throw away non biodegradable cartons and containers instead of old tin cans.

The worse than lazy, well they just drive down the road and toss it out or sometimes just into their own yard! Very sad!

I don’t want to climb too high on this soap box, but in rural areas if you set out 1 bag of garbage today, 10 bags will be beside it tomorrow, they just somehow think it is okay!

This was a classic commercial when I was a kid to address the issue!

Apologies for the rant and chat, big Thanks for everyone to make the efforts to leave it better than they found it!

@leonard_nemoy we've lived here for about 5 years now and I'm still not used to how trashed many areas in TN are. We often go to N. GA or WNC as they are generally better cared for. The area around Chattanooga is beautiful though with many clean areas and mostly respectful people.

The trash with your 80 thread idea is a good one and next time I pull a load out I'll get a picture of my 80 with it to start that thread, if it doesn't exist already. I think that off-roaders are best suited to clean up some of these areas that are challenging to access as we have the capability to get there and to haul a relevant amount of garbage out.

If anyone in the region ever wants to come to Chattanooga to do some trash removal I'll be glad to show you where to find plenty. Further, if anyone wants a garbage removal challenge there are cliffs where folks pushed boats, appliances and lots of garbage off. I could see a coalition of climbers, trucks with quality recovery gear and trailers along with cooperation at a local dump combining to get that crap out of the woods but it wouldn't be easy. There are also large rocks covered in spray paint for yet another type of challenge, etc. Like I said above, 10 bags is a tiny amount of trash compared to what's out there.
A few years back I was working in Atlanta Georgia and took a weekend trip to Chattanooga. It was very upsetting the amount of trash that we saw every ware.
That you for you efforts to try to fix the issue.

Thanks to @Broski , @Noahrob , @spyduh , and @mustcamp , for coming up to play in the snow! Great spending the day with you and your families.

It's @malteserunner that deserves the big Thank you for sharing his local knowledge, showing us the trail above Oakhurst Calif where he currently lives & letting me Camp in my Camper in his Yard. Big Thanks to Adam.

Great trip, Great people, Great wheeling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers

How do you like those Firestone tires?
So far they ride great on the road. I have only about 150 miles on em so far. Haven’t tested them out yet. When I do I’ll let you know.

Took my dog to the park.

The sliding rear windows simply had to be designed with dogs in mind. Great feature on the truck.
If your flexible they can also be used as a urine hatch when your sleeping in the back on a really cold night.......

Nice addition! What trac pad is that?
Just a sheet I found on Amazon - I was going to go with NSI (Gorge windsurf stuff) but for that much of it it's a bit $$$). Yeah, my knees and bare feet are stoked already.

Yep - the angle edge guard is on my list & just ordered. It did'n take much to tear the carpet!

@plutonius looks like you forgot to return your fin to BIG WINDS. Lol. Busted!

I’ve bought a bunch of used stuff from them too! Almost wind season up here in the bay!!!

Ha! I wondered if people were gonna think I snaked that fin! Yeah, I bought a JP 85l FSW from them a couple years ago. It's been blowing in SoCal a bit...4.0/4.5 and that's solid for here. We're gonna trek up to Hood River at some point this spring or summer. 🤙

Nice! I had that same exact board in my quiver at some point (from big winds too). Lately been messing around on a Slingshot slingwing and foil...feeling like a kook and a noob again, but it has been a blast. #prayforwind

To keep this thread somewhat about Toyota: Tony Logosz has a bomber 1stgen pickup... (Slingshot is a Hood River company, and fun peeps to work with!!)

I’m a Chattanooga guy. Shoot me a PM next time you go to Big Fork. I’m always down for a cleanup shake down run!

Weird my dog is probably the only one that won't use the back sliding windows but loves the regular ones.

Mine won't hang her head out of either type, but she enjoys running between them to sniff when they are open.

I love dogs, let's bring back this thread...

Post pics of your dog(s)with your 80! - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/post-pics-of-your-dog-s-with-your-80.169702/

If you haven't installed the throttle handle, that would help. I tend to crank my throttle up very high when winching so I don't drain my battery.
Thanks for the tip, Jack. I was using the gas pedal and a throttle handle is headed my way soon!

Great job! The club here did this on Saturday too. The buckets are for the nails left behind from pallet fires. Bud Light Blue is still the official color of gutter trash around here.

My god!! The spray paint is jaw dropping. Really glad to see you out there. I am big fan of bring out an extra trash bag.

I think some one would have a really bad day if caught destroying a natural are in the mid west. There just isn't that many of them.
