Brand new Toyota rear drive shaft..... The stock one still had vibration after new u-joints and then I purchased one from Tatton but then the voices in my head kept reminding me that it wasn’t a Toyota part even though the vibration was gone. Then I found out I could purchase a factory one for $350 . Why didn’t I research that to start with ??? The struggle is real !! Anyone need a rear drive shaft ??

Cruised out to Carrizo Plains National Monumement for some primitive camping. Had an awesome time.

I don’t like the idea of driving around town with 1000 pounds of armor on my truck, (I’m in Austin and have to drive a ways to wheel) so I pulled it all off. Then I didn’t like having the front end naked.

I’ve had something like this in mind since I decided not to throw away the post from my son’s unused basketball goal. Took about three hours of cutting and welding. It looks goofy as hell. Posting for a good laugh.

I'm wondering if narrowing it will improve the look, or if I should add something to it. I guess I should just put my winch bumper back on. It was an interesting little project.

@Blk80inAZ Where did you find it for $350? My slip yoke is worn to the point of terrible noise that can't be greased away (did not over-grease, but it was probably run with no grease for a period of years). I got a "hopefully good" driveshaft from a mudder and new matsuba joints from cruiser outfitters. I'm in for $180 so far and busted one of my u-joints on install, so have to spring another $50. Wondering if I should cut my losses at this point and just get a new driveshaft.

bought a chunk o'cruiser from a fellow in the classifieds. He nicely cut off the bottom corner of a red wagon and mailed it. I cut out just what was needed. If you remeber selling me one it is getting used now.

For your reading pleasure

Borrowed a 25 year old Lincoln 110v. Using .030 flux core and learning. So in addition to the quarter panel repair I did this finally.
Pulled front seats out to weld the frames.
Been in there just bolted together for a year. Audi seats on dumb frames with original feat.
Next gonna try to close some fender flare holes

Finished up on a lot of mini projects on my trail 80... Stuff that I have had laying around for years. Finally got a chance to install a OEM hand throttle after purchasing the later 80 series throttle pedal with the dual cable locks ( my 80 was a early production 1993 that only had a single lock)...Then finished wiring the Renogy 100w portable panels ( decided to go with portable panels because I have a couple rigs with solar setups/controllers..) Also installed my jdm passenger side oh sh!t bar. The grab bar was put in so I can have a sturdy platform to add Ram mounts for hand held comm. radios or tablets/phones..Finally, put on my 2 meter radio in place of the cup holder right behind the hand brake.. No interference with brake.. Installed an aux speaker on the side of the center console too..

Thats what i did as well. I had sent my old OEM driveshaft to my local driveline shop to install the new OEM UJ's (that i provided) and have it balanced. A year later and i have terrible slop in the yoke so decided to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Nearly fell of my chair when i saw how cheap they are. I paid about $350 for mine. The UJ's and balancing the previous year was $300.

Heckraiser, I picked it up at Autonation Toyota in Phoenix. I do have a commercial account but I have seen them online at places like Toyota parts deal for almost the same price. Just buy one and don’t look back. Plus the quality of the tatton one just didn’t compare in my opinion. Don’t waste you’re time and money like I did.....

Out with the old cracked dash pad and in with the new !! After new seat leather , steering wheel and shifter handle the dash just had to go..... Also installed a new bronze tinted windshield. Hard to see the bronze color in the photo though but it looks cool in person.

97-01 Toyota Camry steering wheel and air bag. Plug and play. There is a guy on eBay that sells new old stock on the wheel itself. Unfortunately his price went up recently from $69.00 to $109.00. Here are the items to make it work.
