How long did all that take you? I'm really thinking of doing the temp gauge mod soon before it heats up in Texas (any day now...) and replacing the d light as PM a it's gotten weaker and weaker... Sent from my iPhone
I would forgo the temp gauge mod and just use a Scan/Ultra Gauge. The temp gauge mod drove me to the brink of paranoia. So happy I removed it.

I spent a couple of hours on it, including ripping out all the extraneous wiring, cleaning everything up and switching out several dash bulbs as well. It was nowhere near as tough or complicated as I was expecting. Good opportunity for some rarely-done deep cleaning.

I used wd40 on both locker housings last week. Figure 8s this morning. Officially locked 3x.

Is this something not obd2 reliant? I have a 94. And I haven't done much electrical outside of audio for my truck and haven't toyed with the idea of installing other components, though I'm totally down to learn.

Sorry I didn't notice the year on my phone. Yes, it require OBD2 so nm my previous comment because your options are more limited :(

Weekend day two... Shaky mirror fix - zip tie method! Works amazingly.

Cleaned out the passenger side window squirter... Popped if off the hood and blew it out backwards with compressed air. Works like new now.

Pulled the snorkel off so I could fix the upper mount. I have a feeling that the "water leak" reported by the PO may have been something to do with the fact that there were 3 screw holes, but only 2 screws... Also took the opportunity to seal up the un-painted surface where the big hole was drilled through the fender... Bare steel and salty roads don't mix well!

as i get more and more into over landing, i am reading about more folks who say the 70 series is a great utilitarian vehicle, but when loaded heavy and on long bush tracks, they just are not quite what the larger cruiser is. That's just what i have read.

i have no experience with them. I always thought everyone loved them just because we can't get them.

I do think they are cool, no doubt about that. They remind me of an older isuzu trooper.

I've heard some of the same but then when I see the truck that is being talked about they have overloaded the crap out of it behind the rear axle and include the rear bumper and swing outs and even more rear weight. Some of that I'm sure is because you really can't access the cargo area through the front doors so the result is to load everything from the rear and close enough to reach.

The truck has a huge leaf packs and coils up front, so no way would I expect it to handle like an 80, 100, 200. Plus it is a bit more narrow with lots of rear overhang. I think of the handling like having a 8' slide in camper in 6' pickup bed. You can make it work, it's just not going to work the same as unloaded or an ideal load.

Winched my dads Rodeo out of his front yard. I'm sure next time he'll just go ahead and grab another length of hose and wash his truck in the driveway

New wheel bearings, New a/c amplifier, removed running boards, New belts, New OME steering damper. Almost done getting it back to normal.

Last weekend I got my metaltech 2" spacers installed. While doing this I stripped a bolt of the lower portion of the shock.(this turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as soon as I got the new ones on I realized the old ones must have been bad since I bought the rig) Ordered 2 new shocks from Kurt, got them installed friday night, just in time for a wheeling trip on Saturday.

Saturday morning comes along, and my front diff explodes on the first obstacle of the day. So I parked it, pulled the drive shaft and the flanges, then rode along in another 80 for the rest of the day.

This brings me to the point now where I will need to regear. I plan on ordering 5.29's unless anyone can give me a good reason not to.

no OBDII on a '94 - no Ultragauge

Complete front end rebuild - new birfs, seals, bearings, and Prostop drilled/vented rotors with EBC green pads. Wow! What a difference in stopping power. And I enjoyed a few    when I finished!

Got around to playing with some steel. It's not done yet, and it isn't perfect but I'm happy! :D

Did you use a template or just measure it all yourself?

I drew up the rough sketch with measurements back in June when I installed my winch. Made one end piece and half the middle out of cardboard and hot glue( don't judge) and then Decided " hey, I think I'm going to wait until an epic snow storm to build it" then I removed my bumper and revised my cardboard bumper and cut it up. Sooo to answer your question I did use a template but I also measured it up. Still not complete though. Fiancé thought she f'ed up her car hitting an unknown object in the snow so I had to help her out. Turns out she hit ...Snow, and she had a flat tire lol! Should have seen the look on her face when I told her she bent the suspension up and because it's a unibody it was totaled.. Yep still chuckling about that one.

Okay weekend is officially over and this is as far as I got. A lot of welding, not much else to do except for the little afterthoughts creeping in as the project comes to a close. Might to a few more things before I weld the winch plate in to it. As it stands, the bumper mounts to the outside of the frame rails with 3 bolts on each side. After the winch plate is welded in, it will bolt to the sides of the frame and underneath with the factory recovery hooks sandwiching it.image.webp

I was bored, because I hadn't done a mod in a while so...installed an underhood light. Picked up the idea in this thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...utomatic-under-hood-led-lighting-peanuts.html

Got the $2.68 stick-on light here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330854219549?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

and the switch here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&vxp=mtr&item=350980493227
Parts are well made, and throw a ton of light (300 lumens from a meter of LED's) and are invisible, when not in use. Pic taken in dark, with only LED's for light, no flash.
