I did a lot of repairing. Friday and today I replaced the front shocks and the steering stablizer with Old Man Emu parts. I think the old ones were car quest brand. I Had to cut the bolts off the front because they were soo corroded. I think with the rear I might get my local mechanic to free the bolts. at least if he shears them off he has the tools to re tap them. I also replaced the broken steering wheel column cover. when I purchased my 80 the bottom portion was missing. Purchased from Toyotapartsdeal.com and its a genuine toyota part witch makes me happy. btw the 1999 4runner in the background of the new steering wheel column cover shot has 516K miles. only things done are tranny replacement and general maintenance like timing belt and plugs.

I removed the bilstein and went with dobinsons. I have roughly 3.5 inches of lift and the bilsteins were a 0-2 inch lift shock so I was probably loosing some down travel. I replaced the rear with dobinsons as well. PO had procomps with extensions on the rear.

How is the ride now? Street? Dirt? I have the OME and think I will be changing the lift next year.

I have only driven around town so far but it seems a little smoother. I can definitely notice it in the rear. Not as bouncy. Hopefully I can hit some trails soon.

Picked up another. It's a '93, 262k, 3X locked, a bit of rust (ie rust bucket for you guys in the SW), windows don't work, and there are some electrical issues. Bought it with the idea of parting it, but it is cleaner than my '95. Once I get the running lights working, I'll run it for a month and see how it is mechanically.

Bled brakes and changed oil on my 97 LX. Brake bleeding was a chore. I ended up getting good fluid with no bubbles, but both of the bleeders in the rear were clogged solid. I took them out and drilled the bleeder holes and they are working great now.

BTW, none of the Dorman bleeders would seal correctly. Drilling out the originals was the only thing that worked.

My friend is a well known off-road leader (not money involved). He opened an event for the Jeep Rubicon club and around 40 jeeps showed up at the rally point.
At 4 AM he MSG me via InReach satellite, I forgot the Pita bread can you bring some (he is 200 miles from me at first day night camp) can't have Hummos without Pita bread no?
So I pull myself out of bad stock the refrigerator in the Toyota with beer drive to the near Arab village bakery drink the best coffee with the bakers and drive 4 hours to meet them at night camp in the morning.
This guys from Rubi club are snobs A holes they do not allow other then Rubis to wheel with them even Jeep WJ or CJ and definitely no Jeep Storm (Israeli version assembled in Israel) and Toyota is the enemy. So the plan was that I will deliver them the Pita go into the desert through the first pass and then split I will go solo trip and they will go to hell LOL and we will meet in the night camp. I promised him not to go up the pass only after they will leave the place. He didn't want them to become gloomy after all moded Rubicon cost in Israel around 180,000 US $. I could not resist I went up the pass the last one but some of them were still there.

You happened to catch the RH headlight of both my rigs in this shot. Hard to see, but they are there.

For us, it was a late Friday night arrival. We had fun getting through the deep sand around the hillocks towing the dune buggy on the trailer, but aired down and got through. Later on, @sbman wasn't making any progress bringing his travel trailer in, so I got to give him a tug the rest of the way into camp.

Saturday, the Cruiser lineup by series didn't quite go according to plan. I had to squeeze in behind an FJ Cruiser.
