P/S pump is in along with most of the engine work wrapped up but the high pressure hose was trashed so ordered a new one and have to wait for it to finish it off.

Foo on Volvo portals is awesome. Wheeled it until we pretzeled the steering tie rod, straightened it, wheeled it hard again for 13 hours then pretzel 🥨 time, straightened again, wheeled some more then it was time to go. Thanks SMORR

I have bought the Ligon jam at IKEA, close but they put too much sugar in it and it looses its tartyness.

I am waiting for my winter supply to arrive:clap:

Went to the beach.

Was doing some PMing today and went to replace what I thought was a worn bearing (tire had some fore and aft movement) and noticed my thrust washer had a grove. I hammered the old race out and the new one slid in will relative ease without needing a driver tool. I’m assuming I’m in need of a need of a new hub assembly? New spindle is in order as well, I’m assuming the hub assembly having slack allowed the inner bearing to walk around a little

I put some miles on the new turbo and airbox, driving to the Vermont Overland "Birdwatching Safari". Wheeled the 80 for 3 days and came home. Everything worked and nothing broke on the way!

After many years, and several thousand miles the zip-ties on my shaky mirror finally gave out, so I went to a more "permanent" solution: I drilled a small hole in each side of the break on the mirror and bent & inserted a piece of stuff wire to serve as rebar. Then filled with JB Weld around a mold and then ground down/milled out to fit and sanded smooth.

Test fit looks good. Although while doing it I discovered that my remaining plastic ear is wallered out, so I'm building it back up with JB Weld also.

after doing this three times, I found a new set on amazon for like $83 and just replaced them both.

hate to reply to my own post, but when you guys replace your inner race I’m assuming you have to use a driver tool to set it? Mine slid straight in. Which I’m assuming means I’m in the market for a new hub/carrier or whatever it’s technically called?

Yes, it should have to be driven in. If you can slide it in with your fingers, then, the inside of the hub is worn and you need a replacement hub.

You CAN use a center punch and/or chisel and dimple the inside of the hub then press in the race, but that is more of a field fix rather than a long-term solution.

Get a new/used hub.

What about using green locktite?

As a field fix, yes. As a permanent solution, no.

If it's your DD, then do that and run it, but order a hub as soon as possible so you have it when the bearings s*** the bed.

BTDT.

Went camping with the new to me Yulara RTT. Mattress needs more support for side sleeping in the hip area. I'm considering adding a second full mattress or just 2" of firm foam underneath. Love the Tepui sheets so I have to keep them on a 2" mattress.
