Last week installed OE Toyota cap, rotor and wires and removed the aftermarket crap that po installed. Also had to renew registration and got really cool desert tortoise license plates!

@ZackR ... I just completed the same. I remembered seeing a thread discussing 30 ft/lbs of pre-load, but my handy Wits-End guide shows 4 ft/lbs on the initial nut, then 47 on the outer. Wondering if I did that wrong? I get a hum from the front axle around 65mph, but only right there and it does it in both of my trucks, just louder in the gutted Cruiser.

There's a handful of threads on the topic, my takeaway is that the OEM procedure leaves the bearings too loose, especially if you are running larger than stock tires. Even at 30 ft/lbs it wasn't hard to spin and seems nice and snug. 4 ft/lbs is barely more than hand tight, it will spin easily but I'm thinking the bearings would wear out faster.

If I am reading this right, 4ft/lbs on the first nut to preload the bearings is not enough for me. Have you jacked up the tires and rocked them to see if the bearings are tight?

I will do that Scott, thank you. I can snug them to 30 ft/lbs if needed.

Yeah they are fairly robust but running too loose will kill them fairly quickly.

Recent data point, my driver side (with the bad wheel bearing, wump wump noise while driving, pitted bearing race) was hand tight while the passenger side was much tighter and the bearings were fine.

My son had his senior pics taken today. He wanted two settings (instead of the 5-6 most people do...). One setting on the baseball field. The other, his two favorite things in the world. His 80 and his PIC (partner in crime).

I put it up for sale. Bitter sweetness. Life moves on.
SMH I don't know what's more sad. You selling, or the fact I don't see it in the classifieds.

It's the lack of cupholders isn't it?

I decided to get rid of the wheels spacers & go a wee bit wider in stance. So for my birthday I bought me some wheels. 17x9 3.5" BS Battleborn Gatekeepers
