SPECIAL TOOL FOR DEAD HEAD HOOD STRUTS.....NOT TESTED ON REAR LIFT GATE :
Used a 16mm(o.d.), 2mm thick aluminum tube from an old speargun pump, took it on a table saw (very carefully) and fab'd this special tool, even found a secure home for it near the battery for easy access .
It works

Yikes! I watched a buddy splitting wood in flip flops, he missed the wood, but the follow they went down and split his foot between the big toe and the toe next to it! It looked like someone took their Kbar and sliced his foot right down the middle for about 4 inches! Poor lil fella.... we were laughing our ashes off! He recovered! Lol
Good luck..... don’t let it get infected!
I am so glad I only hit the front of my shin and had to get 11 stitches. It could have been way worse, I could only imagine splitting your toes in half.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, I hope your like me and have prepared for this . Im sure you are.
And of course I was prepared, I drive an fj80.

Must have been an angel watching over you, the stitches were done on location ? Carrying a skin stapler might come in handy in the tailgate ER kit, hope no one ever has to use it.

We just put a skin stapler in our med kit. Like you said, hope we never need it!

This has been a productive weekend installed the slimline 2 rack all aluminum so its lighter than one I built out of Hannah steel. reinstalled RTT, etc treated all rubber seals on windows I have to replace runs but not this weekend and finally after 3 finally made a braket up that bolts up to factory battery box holes and is strong enough to securely and safely hold down the 100AH battery for my house battery. waiting on a set of 50in KC gravities and will e mounting with yodateq windshield mounts. with this rack and some other deletions Ive lightend all my UP top weight as much as I could, and KING shocks arent shipped yet. so theres that. Washer bottle relocated w/ slee kit. Grabbed Napa p/n 9260 hose to eliminate resonator (cut small section of air cleaner side resonator hose. Place small section inside 9260 hose and reattach to air cleaner. A little heat helps. Reuse lower hose clamps on Napa hose. Awesome. Factory battery box installed. Radiator side requires slight trimming. Second blue top 31dm installed. Electrical next.

I made the same thing out of a piece of PVC 3/4” pipe, cut it 6” long and cut a slice down it length wise using a razor knife......... works great! *I put a piece of Velcro on mine, then another on the interior lip of the fender, and it has stated there for a year or so with no problems!

Thru Truckee then north on 89 to Sierraville, Sattley and up on the Sierra Valley overlook...on and off snow all the way

Views were not to good like many years ago because the ponderosa pines got big and blocked view..hoping for some bark beetles to bring em down ;) ;)..Im serious..

Is

that flat or angled? and was it custom built or DIY ? Im interested that has lots of uses beside the obvious.

Hey RFB it’s from an Australian company, Milford Cargo Barriers. It’s angled a bit to allow room behind the headrest while the center to bottom are angled to be close up to the rear bench.

Installed new headliner, reinstalled the poptop tent after sewing in a new section to replace the burnt part, installed the CTEK dual battery system and then wired in a rear fuse block for some USB/12V charge ports/fridge/lights/compressor/inverter.

On the fun side I also got to drive all night with night vision on while training some Special Operations folks how to offroad. I need to sell a kidney and get a set of these PVS31's! ;)
