Washed the 93. There had to be at least 150lbs of ice crammed in her bumper. Had to lay down and power wash it to get the chunks to come out. First couple of days above zero in the past 2+ weeks.

She looks less sh!tty for the next hour or so. Heading out to go ice fishing. Have to fjord through some frozen marsh to get there. Should be fun!

Picked up some BIO step sliders for my 80 in VA! Thanks to @Cruiserhead05 for hooking me up with these. Was nice to meet another mud member! I think I officially have met more mud members on the east side of the country than the west!

Then I hung out with an old HS buddy who works at the Aberdeen Proving grounds! Hope he weather doesn't misbehave too much so I can be back home soon to get these bad boys on!

Tore my motor down. Debating just a head gasket or if it needs to go deeper into the block. Opinions?

Slight discoloration, photo makes it look worse. hatching seems good. How do you decide when to do rings and go deeper? no idea if it has blow by. Was a motor that was running strong that was pulled out to do a swap from what i was told.

Wompom,
Clean it, get the head surfaced (now that it's off you kinda have to). Put it back together and don't over think it. If it came out running it should run just fine you got it from good people who wouldn't sell you junk. I've put together engines that looked much worse internally and some are still running strong, many years later. As far as surface rust goes spray block and parts down with LPS 2 or 3 put big garbage bag over it all and ty it closed. Engine building is not rocket science, keep everything clean, assemblie with plenty of oil, and torque everything to spec and then check it again. Keep it simple. Good luck, looks like a nice project.

Thanks for the advice. Gonna find a machine shop here in Seattle area. I planned on rebuilding the head regardless of condition since the motor was already out.

I put in a quart of 10w40. Annual oil change isn’t till April.

Fixed one of my broken muffler hanger thingies.

:meh:
Then I went snowboarding.

What would you suggest doing to an engine that's been sitting out and has surface rust, can I just spray LPS on it to stop the rust? I don't really want to take it apart to paint it or something unless I absolutely have to.

I guess it depends on how serious the rust is, WD40 and a scotch bright will work to get minimal rust off, if it's going to continue sit in those conditions use LPS 3 or equivalent and bag it.

Threw a set of tires at her. I really wanted to powder coat the wheels beforehand but I struggled to convince myself on the right shade of dark grey. Will try a few rattle can tests and have another go in the summer.
