Speaking of HAM...I drove the Cruiser to Fresno for the third Saturday of a free class put on by K6ARP.org/fame. My two older sons and I all took the technician test afterward. Younger one didn't pass on two attempt, but I made it with 32 out of 35 right. Call signs will be coming next week, and we've been playing with the programming on three Baofeng handhelds.

Well, you've probably read that people say don't use that stuff. In my experience it will clog up the little coolant passages you will see when you do a real head job. I'd advise getting the FSM and doing it right. It's not too hard! If there was "head gasket in a bottle" the 80 Series would be immortal!
Yeah I will get to it. Its just that Im working on a house remodel and just dont have time for it now. The head has a hairline crack between cylinder 5&6 so that might be where the issue is...thanks for the encouragement will get there eventually.

Run both HAM and CB. Just do a clean install to make your (w)life happy.

I like that. Clean install. I have the same CB in the ashtray location but I have an Pioneer double din head unit I'm not wiling to give up and my new HAM does not have a remote face. So......a clean install is more challenging. Still looking at my options.

As for the usefulness of a CB radio...CBs are becoming less and less practical. More people are moving straight to HAMs. I resisted getting a HAM for years, but over the last few years we have been doing more and more remote travel that is either solo, or with just a couple other trucks and can get spread out beyond the range of our CBs, so it was a necessary change. I'll still keep my CB since it's already there and can be used when traveling with others that only have CBs.

Finally finished installing the leather kit for my front seats that I've been putting off for almost two years. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain in the ass to install, but completely worth it.

My seats weren't in horrible condition, but the leather had gotten very hard and my wife was complaining that the seats were uncomfortable. I installed new foam and seat heaters while I was at it. They came out better than I expected.

My only previous experience with upholstery work was on a '68 Cutlass that I was restoring, but these seats were a bit more challenging than those simple bench seats on the Cutlass.

Need opinions...should I keep the stock wheel color or change it up with graphite? The painted wheel is the spare.

Once I get some stock wheels I plan to paint them up like you're considering. I personally like the graphite look, I expect there are other perspectives on stock vs. painted.

This thread has a few examples of what others have used. Lets see those painted wheels

Nice rig.

Went to the beach!

If those were gray, I'd take your old ones in a heartbeat. Much better than the hugs splits I currently have cheap seat covers on.

:D
Wife is 5'2" and not at all large. She has no issue with it, says it's not in the way at all.
Bonus on a long trip she can download a movie or 2 to the iPad, twist it to face her, and watch something with headphones.

Technically, at least. Not been tried yet.

Only concern is if it will either prevent airbag deployement or make airbag deployment dangerous. But man it looks awesome.

Started the fan clutch mod after installing the Koso gauge. My poor wife. I feel like Kramer cooking his corduroy pants in Jerry's oven.

Just stay away from the wife's good baking pans. And towels.

This is hilarious to me, because I did this exact thing to my 40th spare a few years ago, and then decided to keep the others stock. It's a tough call, as I actually like both looks. I guess you could Plasti dip them first to see if you like the look.

Finally rolled over to 180k!!!

We have the same setup as far as the iPad on the Ram mount. My wife is 5'8" and it is never in her way when we go wheeling. If we are wheeling somewhere challenging where I need to watch what I am doing, she will do the navigating via the iPad. Sometimes she is driving and I am navigating and I am 5'10". Works great!

If you are worried about the location, you can bolt a Ram mount post to the seat rail (one single bolt to remove and replace) and bend the post in over the console. It is out of everyone's way and cannot possibly be in the way of an airbag deployment. If you want to see a photo, let me know and I'll post it up.
