@Dubbinchris It is hard to get an accurate portrayal of how bright the difference is....but this is my best shot. I am going to read up on the auto backlights etc to see what it does. You can adjust the contrast, bright sensitivity etc.

looks good. you guys never seem to worry about proper protection lol, mustn't have the same issues with wildlife that we do

I keep thinking about adding some better grill/hood protection. I might bend up some hoops and do some vertical 3/8" plate.

No giant kangaroos here. Just deer, elk, moose, sheep and bears. In my 43 years I have never hit any. Lots of close calls though. They really are only a problem at night. I am thinking about the grill guard more for bashing through bushes and trees.

@shmabs any scenic photos of the park, with all the snow? We didn't get to go last weekend, due to ill children. Love it up there after fresh snow! We're in Oakhurst, just outside the park.

Nice! We have another storm coming through. I've got to get up there after. Thanks for the pic! Post as many more as you'd like.;)

Made up a mount for my uhf radio and mic from some 3mm alyoumineeum.

It's actually for a slightly bigger mic so it looks a bit tall for this one.

And this is the bracket for the main body of the radio. I used the left hand drive steering column bolt holes so it sits up above the glove box (no airbags in this one) and hopefully above any future high tides. I left some space there to mount relays for the roof console switch pod I'm making.

I'm so jealous of those of you that live West of the Mississippi! You get to wheel into scenery like that, and when I wheel in NC I get to stare at pine trees! Miles and miles of pine trees.... I don't even put Xmas trees up anymore because I'm sick of f'ing pine trees! Now, put me somewhere like that, and I would stay lost out in the most beautiful land I've ever seen!! (And to think.... for 21 years I begged Uncle Sam to not station me out there (and he listened).... what was I thinking?!)
Anyways.... that looks like a fun weekend!
Awww, You East Coast Marines! Always bitching about the sand fleas. While I went to MCRD San Diego,MOS school in 29 Palms,( Great Wheeling in the desert) and than got to play on Camp Pendleton tank trails for 4 years. And to top it off, I went TAD to Ft. Huachuca for 6 months. More wheeling fun. Although, after my EAS I went to Fayetteville, NC and got to bury a few vehicles on the tank trails on FT. Bragg!

Ohhhh don't get me wrong, in 21 years as a d#! in the dirt Grunt I did quiet a few mini "vacations" in "the stumps"! Plus, after spending 2.5 years with Field Trng Bn P.I. The Corps decided I would like to be a Recruiter!(kill me now! Please!) So I got to hang out at MCRD S.D. For 3 months of very chilled schooling 8am-3:30pm, Mom-Fri! Many good times in SD! Love that city! GasLamp District (pretty sure that's the name) is great for dinner, and a cold one! Plus I spent a few months in SD a few years ago, working on the border, but staying, with full TAD pay, in S.D.
Funny though, every "dream sheet" I ever filled out, I requested to stay on East Coast!(mostly for family) With hindsight being 20/20.... I would of went to the West coast, and retired in New Mexico with a good buddy of mine. He heads out to the trails thru his BACKYARD! And is frikkin beautiful!!.....

:hmm: I've been working in the 24 area on Pendleton for over 10 years. Though I hate living in SoCal, I do enjoy the wheeling opportunities.

The tank trails are in 29 Palms now. Try spending your whole enlistment there. If I could do it over I would have buried myself in debt on a new 80 and enjoyed the BLM more. Drifting corners in a hmmwv wasnt bad though. The Blue Ridge Mountains in NC may not have the rugged views, but my old 80 sure feels at home there.

Yeah, I was cruising the high desert in an 84 4x4 mini truck. That was in 1985! No 80's around then; although I did go through the first training class when the HMMV's came out! Broke an axle shaft off one the first day!

The original plan was just to disconnect everything around the engine in preparation for pulling it on saturday after I get off work..

well, I got ahead of schedule. This is at 6 hours from starting..

Dewalt 20v 3/8" impact for the WIN. And I was able to leave the shortbus on..

I'm thinking saturday I'll remove the front springs to set it on the bump stops to simulate full up-travel. Might use my hi-lift for this.. If I think I can keep it from falling off the thing.

Under the blue tarp is my 6.2L V8, the 6-spd auto is still in the garage. Might be next week before I can hang it in the engine bay to find mount location and confirm that my larger oilpan idea will work. Needless to say.. excited.

Haha! Yes...I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Everything is so crowded these days...traffic, lines, people everywhere. :/ Would love to move somewhere less fuster clucked.
