i may be wrong but i don’t think you needed to take everything from the fire wall forward to tear the knuckles down.
I’ve got a spare working vacuum actuator if you’re interested. LMKwent upland bird hunting with my middle son today. good times together. this is the first time i’ve needed 4wd since i got the truck back from the engine/tranny rebuild. well 4wd isn’t working. i was able to get myself out of trouble with 2wd and a locker but i really need 4wd. maybe someone can point me in the right direction. i did find a vacuum line disconnected to hooked that back up. still no joy. i can hear the 4wd switch click when activated but the light doesn’t come on and 4wd doesn’t engage. the wiring to the red vsv on the firewall seems to be correct. where on the transfer case do these hoses go to? i got home in the dark so haven’t climbed under neath. are they easy to fine or are they going to be hidden up on top of the case?
anyway i’ll have some troubleshooting to do now.
otherwise it ran beautifully! View attachment 4023934View attachment 4023935View attachment 4023936View attachment 4023937View attachment 4023938
Love the way your truck looks. Perfect classic cruiser. I bought a white FJ60 a few weeks back. Also in Oregon but way iver in the east side. I'm in the middle of a few other projects but I will soon be looking at suspension upgrades. What height lift are you at? What size tires?View attachment 4015623
Took a drive through the Mount Hood National Forest.

Well that 80 box I got from must have been in great condition because it really did transform the drive. My 60 box was pretty loose by comparison.FYI, there isn’t anything inherently better about an 80 box other then the 4mm larger power piston which will make the amount of assist slightly better. Steering tightened is going to be a factor of overall condition.
@S.CarolinaFZJ80 or @cruisermatt - had the 80 box been rebuilt prior ?Well that 80 box I got from must have been in great condition because it really did transform the drive. My 60 box was pretty loose by comparison.
No idea if it was rebuilt or not at some point. I got as a used good condition box and it is.@S.CarolinaFZJ80 or @cruisermatt - had the 80 box been rebuilt prior ?
Did you identify a leak on the old box ? Thanks.
Ram Air, too?!Chopped a big hole in my spare hood and mounted a scoop from a late 90's Subaru Impreza Outback. I think it came out pretty ok, without looking too out of place. Looking forward to how much this is going to drop intake temps/egt's.
