What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Took off the aluminium bullbar - and found a big surprise behind it! About 75kg (166lb) of mild steel flat bar tucked in and tacked between the chassis rails!!! Surprises on the Hopper Stopper never end!!

That is the weirdest thing I've seen in a while.

went upland bird hunting with my middle son today. good times together. this is the first time i’ve needed 4wd since i got the truck back from the engine/tranny rebuild. well 4wd isn’t working 🥵. i was able to get myself out of trouble with 2wd and a locker but i really need 4wd. maybe someone can point me in the right direction. i did find a vacuum line disconnected to hooked that back up. still no joy. i can hear the 4wd switch click when activated but the light doesn’t come on and 4wd doesn’t engage. the wiring to the red vsv on the firewall seems to be correct. where on the transfer case do these hoses go to? i got home in the dark so haven’t climbed under neath. are they easy to fine or are they going to be hidden up on top of the case?

anyway i’ll have some troubleshooting to do now.
otherwise it ran beautifully!

Replaced the blinker fluid on my FJ62 as it was running low! This is good alternative, but I will probably dig into my OEM to find out why it wasn’t canceling after turning left.

I’ve got a spare working vacuum actuator if you’re interested. LMK

Made brackets to fit a new parallel flow aircond condenser… lots of mucking around and test-fitting and cutting and taking more bits off the car.. tomorrow I will start putting it back together.. next weekend will be the tx valve on the evaporator (if that is what it is called and next month will be getting the fittings sorted to the other end of the aircond hoses and a re-gas before a big trip up the north west of Western Australia in mid to high 40 degree celcius temps again!!

Installed an 80 series steering box on my 60 with the help of @Roxx & @angerhater to name a few.

The used steering box from @cruisermatt really made a huge difference! Steering is way tighter than the 60 box it replaced. Suggest all late model 60 & 62 owners do this mod! It's direct bolt it.

Also re-torqued the Doh'binson suspension hardware, rotated tires and front end alignment.

Love the way your truck looks. Perfect classic cruiser. I bought a white FJ60 a few weeks back. Also in Oregon but way iver in the east side. I'm in the middle of a few other projects but I will soon be looking at suspension upgrades. What height lift are you at? What size tires?

FYI, there isn’t anything inherently better about an 80 box other then the 4mm larger power piston which will make the amount of assist slightly better. Steering tightened is going to be a factor of overall condition.

Well that 80 box I got from must have been in great condition because it really did transform the drive. My 60 box was pretty loose by comparison.

@S.CarolinaFZJ80 or @cruisermatt - had the 80 box been rebuilt prior ?

Did you identify a leak on the old box ? Thanks.
No idea if it was rebuilt or not at some point. I got as a used good condition box and it is.
As for the 60 box... no leaks, that I know of. The rubber hoses were replaced a couple years ago as they were leaking. After cleaning the box really well it didn't appear to leak.

Chopped a big hole in my spare hood and mounted a scoop from a late 90's Subaru Impreza Outback. I think it came out pretty ok, without looking too out of place. Looking forward to how much this is going to drop intake temps/egt's.

Thanks! I went with a 2.5” Old Man Emu suspension. The tires are 31x10.5R15.
