What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

When I saw that engine in that truck, the first thing that came to mind was a person wearing Spanx.

Took it up Imogene, Corkscrew, Mineral Creek, Ophir, and others. 0 issues!

Looks pretty late in the day. Did you make it down before dark? Bet there was some beautiful lighting.
We did, ended up being perfect. This was last Thursday. That being said I either need to upgrade the brakes or keep it in 4L on the way down. Flat steep roads caused me to fly around a few corners with the brake on the floor in 4H

Over the last few weekends I've ticked off a handful of projects on my 60.

Finished up my 80 front axle swap. Many thanks to @dbbowen and @TRAIL TAILOR for letting me pester them with questions.

Also threw in the WKOR sliders I've had kicking around for a while

Tossed in some manual heated 3 series seats with Torfab brackets. (Need to wire the heaters still)

Did the 105 sector shaft / reseal on my 80 series box. I cut the first Teflon ring and had to buy another one from Toyota. Luckily the Teflon and rubber o-ring are like $10 for both and abailable independently instead of the $300 they want for a reseal kit. I've got the cruiser in the garage this week, so I'm hoping to swap it in.

Lastly, swapped out my city racer LEDs for some retrobrights. The light output was great, I just wanted the stock look of the retros.

Im hoping to get the overdrive gears installed this upcoming week so I can lower my cruising RPMs at 70ish.

No worries at all! The coil conversion looks great and glad you ordered my radius arms too!

No problem. The radius arms were a no brainier. Correct caster, OEM bushings, beefy AF. I literally just compared my toe measurements from my other 80 series and then drove it once it was ready. No fuss no muss.

Heck yeah man that looks great. The best thing about the swap is unless you are in the know, it looks like the truck came that way from the factory! Awesome work, there are now 2 white 60s driving around Oregon with coils!

great photo. Are you running the stock transmission? I’m always nervous about doing big, long climbs in my FJ62, even with the transmission cooler.
I did, I added an additional trans cooler to it a few months ago and my overheating issues have disappeared. It used to overheat after driving for 45mins but I was driving it 4-6hrs straight without issue last week. I think a key part is that if driving in a straight line keeping it at 60mph+ it wont change gears which I believe helps circulate the oil. Before I left I changed the engine/both diffs/Tcase and ATF. While changing the Tcase I removed the FILL plug and a quart or 2 came out. Did some research and apparently if the seal/gasket between the trans and tcase breaks, ATF will get into the transfer case. So that was fun. Have been monitoring the ATF levels ever since but havent seen much of a decline so fingers crossed. Got a quote on a H55 swap for $13k so at this time the new trans cooler was money well spent. I will say I was in 4L just about the entire time I was going up or down to avoid the brakes and for any meaningful amount of torque.

The inverse is true as well and will be the death of your A440f. Ask me how I know.

Start collecting parts for that 5 speed swap

Started recovering my seats. I used the cruiser corp seat covers. Similar to stock. Also new bottom cushion foam. I put really soft foam on top of the hard foam. also drilled a ton of holes in the bottom to soften it up as the botttom foam from spectre offroad is hard. I might take it back out and shave off 1" as it raises the height of the seat a lot from the old foam. Also installing new seat belts and carpet and soundproofing.
