What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Spent a couple of days in the longleaf pine forests of Conecuh National Forest doing a little fieldwork. Strapped down 20 gallons of fuel in Sceptor cans on the roof rack because of the gas shortage hysteria. I wanted to make sure I'd have enough fuel to get home. Didn't need the extra fuel but having it gave peace of mind.

I have 15 gallons at all times. I rotate the fuel every time I go to the pump. I ran out once because I was pushing my luck... I was two blocks from a gas station luckily. I said to myself, never again.

Ok please forgive me for not being the weekend and at work on a slow Friday

Decided to build a sleeping platform since I can’t sleep back here anymore because 40’s 🤦‍♂️

Little less head room but still manageable for a wheeling rig

big bonus no more wheel wells to fight all night and another 3-4 inches of head room since were now over the lower back seat sleeping.

Full size queen now!

Tried to keep it simple, top half just slides forward and rests all the way forward in the seat cushion. The back catches on a 2x6 and just rests there. Tried moving around and it was pretty wedged and solid

When it’s stowed it just pushed back and rests snugly on the seat.

No greater pain than slamming your head into the side of a sagging liftgate. Ask me how I know.
When I was in high school, my 6’3” tall self had a bottom locker for some reason. The kid who had the locker above me came walking up while I was squatted down. I didn’t hear the full conversation but all I heard was “Kevin if I hear you say piss one more time I’m gonna crack some skulls!” And as I was standing up “Kevin” said “piss piss piss” and “Joey” slammed his locker door closed. The corner left a triangle shaped dent in the top my skull that required 5 staples. I’m real careful these days.

Got to take Red out on it’s maiden voyage this weekend to Choccolocco Offroad Park for the ACC campout. The v8 and 1 tons are a lot of fun, but it definitely needs hydro-assist in the future.

Not as involved as some of the other projects here, but did manage to find the time for a coolant drain and refill on my ‘87 this weekend. Hunting down a slight “running hot” issue. Figured I’d start with coolant refresh and go from there. Think I may have a bad radiator cap too, so got an OEM ordered and on the way. If that doesn’t do it will rabbit trail down the thermostat, etc.
