Finally RnRed the manifold gasket, injectors, pressure reg and damper on the 62... what a job... I had everything i needed and 2 of some things and barely made it back out... rear manifold was slightly warped causing pain in alignment for bolt holes... got it on and then discovered the crack on the front manifold... spare had broken bolts in it so I robbed the part from the spare motor( nice to have junk piles again) had to yank the air chamber once due to leaving off the spaghetti and heat shield ( disassembled spare manifold set to have it cleaned and ready), pulled it again cause a bolt broke off well before torque spec, ripped the plenum gasket, grabbed my spare and ripped it taking it out of the box... called around and no one had one in town. Cried for 2 minutes then cut the ripped piece off of one gasket, cut a good section out of the spare ripped gasket, and used the two to make one...( it actually works fine on the plenum)... scavenged some hoses to replace the cracked pcv hose and test drove it... sounds happier, quieter. Oil change filters valve adjust then smog... wish me luck

Had a great weekend with my 1 year old, brother and bro-in-law at the 43rd Mud N'Yer Eye Frolic at Hollister Hills. Saw a few other 60s out on the trails. Feels great when you are in good company.

The 62' performed great. Although I had a few holy sh*t moments. Really wishing at moments that I had a better than stock suspension. Will definitely add this to my list and will take off my trailer hitch that kept scraping the ground.

Great times and nice kick off to warmer weather.

Feeling super confident in my rig, now that I completed a 1300 mile trip to Joshua Tree and back and then a weekend of off-loading without a single repair required. No drips for 1500 miles. I call that a WIN!

Also won some recovery gear at the Frolic's raffle. Woot.

Seriously, straight out of a zombie apocalypse movie.
I am a federal Ranger. Which is as close to homeless as you can get but still get paid haha as such everything gets strapped to one wagon or the other and across the country I go. Just in crossing the US on long hauls in the last 2 years I have driven over 25,000 highway miles from California to maine and everywhere in between. All in either an FZJ80 or FJ60.

You're hooked for sure... time for some lift and big tires

Quite a dumb question, but this weekend I tried to fold in the mirrors on the '62 since my jackass neighbors are tweakers who park super close to me and the mirror housing groaned and in general didn't sound like it really wanted to fold.

So... are these mirrors made to fold regularly? I stopped immediately and didn't try to go further.

Yep, hit it with some WD-40 or PB blaster, let it soak and GENTLY try to move it. There is a spring in there that needs to compress, be patient  .
