That's alot of weight hanging on that frame. What's the plan? Scab in new metal on the frame. Might be a good time for a whole new cross member, too.

Thinking about some 1/4" plate across the rear, top & bottom, about 4" wide, 40" long. welded to frame center portion and outer rails. Bumper should be able to slip over that with some persuasion. Some black pipe for new bolts to go through, sorta like a PS box mount...

Yup. If I'm gonna sell one it'll probably be the LV. The SWB is too rough to bring much money and way too much fun. The LV is really nice and I just don't think I'll have as much fun in it as I do the topless V8 pick up.
Besides I can wheel the SWB. I wouldnt wheel the LV, even with the armor.

As of this week, the Pig has been relegated to "drive, enjoy, maintain" mode. Here's the latest project. First time out of the garage in 10 years. Last maintenance receipt dated 1997. Now in the shop of a nationally-known local Porsche guru to make it roadworthy. Probably in line for a couple of Fall trips...dents, checked 24-year-old lacquer and all. Then body/paint and other cosmetics over the winter.
We bought this now rare 914-6 brand new 42 years ago next month and have redone it once. Time to make it usable and beautiful again while we can still get in and out of it without a lift!
Anybody can drive a new car. Some of us are just lucky, I guess.
